Following a show of force where the US flew several bombers near Korea, the North is now threatening to shoot down any US planes even if they are in International airspace. The flyby of B-1's and F-15's was prompted by the NK threat of detonating a thermonuclear weapon in the Pacific.

As the article speculated, any attempt to knock down US planes would come from the countries SAM's which have a range give or take of 90 miles. But its more likely that this is simple posturing again. Also, while the B-1 would be used in any conflict if the US was going to launch a preemptive strike, it would be the B-2 most likely operating in range of the SMAs as well as waves of Tomahawks from an Ohio SSGN no doubt already stationed in the area that would

No one in the US Govt is concerned for good reason. The US military can employ whatever measure they see fit in response to that one attack and leave the NK military completely demoralized. NK would be suiciding themselves if they follow through to which I pray they do.

A few tactical nukes with a small kilo-ton yield would do just enough damage to irradiate a few cities but not spread to another country.

But they will take out a few million S.K.'s and/or Japanese while we make N.K. a parking lot for our planes....thats the issue. Not them getting to U.S. soil...but being 100 miles or less from our allies whom they will hit instantly. Seoul and a bit farther Tokyo.

The key would be to locate and hit all launch sites first and entrenched artillery positions in range of Soeul or Japan. After that it's a baker's dozen.

People will die and military strategists have to take into account the amount of civilians killed if the US military is forced to respond if attacked unprovoked by NK.

If NK attacks first, there is no option but to retaliate overwhelmingly.

It was reported that Nork's "threat", was in response to Trump saying that Kim Jong-un, and his foreign minister: Ri Yong-ho, "...won't be around much longer".
Could be interpreted as a veiled death threat, and a declaration of war by Trump.

The US will not use nukes.
Maybe if North Korea does but only then and still not likely.

I'm more worried about China becoming a proxy for North Korea like the last war. If that happens and was ever discovered, you might as well declare WW3. I'm sure China won't be that ignorant but Iran did the same thing in Iraq but only by supplying the insurgents with weapons.

What the public doesn't know won't hurt the image and depleted uranium works quite well also.

oh great.....the pee wee of NK now gives trump an excuse to start a war with an U.N. alibi of "we were in international waters or airspace when they attacked"

NK throws the first punch is all Trump want's to happen to make his claims justified and to get the American public and the UN on his side 100%. China and Russia won't be able to protest it either which I don't know what those two would do next except watch the fireworks.

This all sounds too good to be true and something is bound to go amiss.

While the first reaction after reading this tittle was to laugh, I have to say, it is nothing to laugh about.

The reason is not because NK is a worthy foe, but because it seems that NK leader is been encouraged by outside forces to act like a intimidating bully.

NK leader either is been pushed by China to act the way he does with the promised of protection if US attack them or he is just delusional, something that I don't bite into.

I say is China the one pushing.

I agree and I think if it came down to it, China would risk their economy to keep American forces off their backdoor. This all sounds like bad news.

You know, looking at how China behave when it comes to the US, they never have liked us at all, actually the Leaders in China wants to achieve total control of the worlds economy, but sadly they are relegated right now to nothing but manufactures.

Most of the money they get from that is used to build armies, weapons, Islands to be a force that should be fear.

While most of the population goes hungry and live in poverty.

China would have a slight edge over America in terms of economy already. Their currency is now being backed by gold and their currency manipulation is working well. Their financial strings are tied to every place on the entire planet. So they don't have a reason to fear America anymore or the UN. They have a million man army with a million in reserve and while they do not have the military experience, they are fast learning and can take the loss of casualties on life and equipment. All the industry is there in China to make weapons quickly.

If I were Trump I wouldn't be so quick to attack. That might set off a chain of events to America losing a major war even with the advanced tech we supposedly have. China is all about the long game and plays by Sun Tzu's rules.

My first we reaction was more along the lines of "Come at me bro!"

More posturing for sure but I do not want S. Korea to get nuked.

I doubt China is encouraging this because the US is China's best customer.

They will never achieve the gold power that US have right now in the world, actually China doesn't even have enough gold reserves right now to even seat at the same table to negotiate with the US today.

So while we are geared to believe that they do that is not so.

Is just the tactics used to be able to manipulate the markets but as it stands today US still hold that power.

Might want to check the news. The US may be the best customer but China isn't dependent anymore for it. They don't rely on anyone but themselves now. With no war, the next 10 or 15 years or so, they will be the leading global trading currency and have the strongest economy in the entire world. America will no longer be in charge of global markets or anything in the international economies. It sounds great and all but it's just the start.

I wouldn't be surprised if learning Mandarin Chinese is a requirement in Schools by that time.

I just wonder what China's angle in all this is. Their true motivation? Getting rid of US hegemony? Apologies for incorrect spelling.

Who knows that way our nation is heading it seems that more and more Americans are very happy with been pushed by other nations.

But interestingly China having their biggest consumer as the US comes with some repercussions, US could used that same buying power to retaliate.

Economically it will be devastating.

That is a scenario where we let them fire their artillery. Shadows of dead soldiers etched in the surrounding landscape cannot load and fire artillery.
