"Under God" is not part of the original pledge of allegiance.
Balch and Bellamy pledges The Pledge of Allegiance, as it exists in its current form, was composed in August 1892 by Francis Bellamy (1855–1931), who was a Baptist minister, a Christian socialist,[11][12] and the cousin of socialist utopian novelist Edward Bellamy (1850–1898). There did exist a previous version created by Rear Admiral George Balch, a veteran of the Civil War, who later become auditor of the New York Board of Education. Balch's pledge, which existed contemporaneously with the Bellamy version until the 1923 National Flag Conference, read:
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands; one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.". In 1954, during the McCarthy era and communism scare, Congress passed a bill, which was signed into law, to add the words "under God.".

The football protests were minimal. One or two here and there until the media got a hold of it and blew it up into news. Still the protests were few and far between. Then Trump tweeted and called them sobs, and the players responded And the Trump supporters? Take a guess. Trump made it an even bigger issue and all his cult followers began to froth at the mouth and paw the ground. ‘’ Bark, bark bark, grrrrrrowl, grrrrrowl, yelp yelp,,,,woof woof, bark bark, meow, bark bark. Hey what’s that liberal snowflake doing here. Bark bark bark grrrrowl

Who gives two #s whether under god is there or not...
"Under God"was added later. The pledge is to country and flag. Kneeling is to point out something has gone awry, not that you hate the flag or country.
Trump's dosgraceful remarks on Saturday....he makes diagraceful remarks every day... but this was a direct response to that.
A fantastic response showing that Trump is an absoute imbecile. Trump said something like the games have low ratings and attendance, LMAO. This is football....people will watch and go to the game no matter what happens during the National Anthem. Trump just walked right into a brick wall. The ONLY WALL he will ever have.

Either way this country has prospered to become the greatest nation as far as prosperity goes, I don't think I would risk taking it out though. Maybe take it out when the time comes that the nation is no longer prosperous.

i just want to say, i feel that you listing your mood as 'stoic' is somewhat inaccurate.

Perhaps the time for stoicism has ended.
You may be right. The NFL may get hurt here. And so might other sports venues. Mr Trump has tossed down a gauntlet over a minor player making a minor gesture which the media blew in to a news worth story. Mr Trump found one more way to bring saliva to the minds of his followers. He is making war on the sport corporations around the country. Do what I say or you will die you evil unpatriotic corporations.

Trump will lead the news media to discuss what ever he wants to talk about. Enough people voted for Trump to win the Presidency. The Sports Conglomerates will get boycotted by both sides anyway. They are in a lose/lose situation at the moment. I see people on here all the time talking about the big evil companies. I don't see why they would defend them now.
