Iran Successfully Test-Fires new Ballistic Missile

Only 7 month in and President Trump is certainly having an effect on the international stage , first he's ratcheted tensions with North Korea up to boiling point and now following his unwise comments at the UN Iran has announced it has test fired its new Khorramshahr ballistic missile in open defiance of the US administration.

"We will strengthen our defence and military capabilities ... whether you want it or not," Rouhani said, a direct response to Trump's speech at the UN General Assembly this week.

Tehran has argued that the tests are solely for defensive purposes and notes the Security Council measure only applies to missiles specifically designed to carry nuclear warheads.

So Iran and Little Kim got real busy to build new missiles in that short period of time? They had absolutely no reason to be pissed at anybody else? I rarely admire the state of mind of seen displayed from the UK these days. 'Reminds me of that appeasement fellow, Chamberlain.

If I was in power in Iran or North Korea I'd be out to get anything to defend myself. They are on the list for regime change and are surrounded by western offensive firepower of which must be to put it mildly a little unnerving when viewed from the locality. After seeing what happened to the rest of the nations listed as members of the Axis of Evil is it any surprise they want to defend themselves?

If we deny the sovereign status of other independent nations and their right to self-defense, where does that leave us? Those aspects of sovereignty are an integral part of our culture in the States and to deny other nations those rights is not only hypocritical but leaving us open to "turn about is fair play".

North Korea is out of line IMO, it's like Lil Kim is spending all his allowance at the fireworks stand buying fireworks and then shooting them all off as soon as he gets them. But as much as the NK government is considered "bad", it has a right to exist and defend itself, to deny that is to deny the same for ourselves.

As is your ability to not see the wood for the trees , the test of the new missile is a reaction to Trumps words just as Trump's reaction to the Korean problem is the reason for the heightened tension in the region.

given the sabre rattling from America it's really no surprise Iran is intensifying it's missile research and development.

If Trump walks back on the nuclear deal then Iran will become a nuclear power.

Dishonest thread. Iran continued to test missiles after Obama's golden deal was implemented, even while Obama was still President. It's not as if they just decided to resume missile testing because of something Trump did/said.

That's one reason the deal was such a joke. Iran told us up front their missile progress wouldn't be part of the negotiations, and we agreed to that. We had all the leverage. We should have told them up front their missile program and returning their hostages were on the table from the beginning or they could continue enjoying their sanctions.

Don't play dumb. You're insinuating if Trump didn't say certain things at the UN that they wouldn't be testing missiles. That's false. It's not even a matter of opinion. Their missile program has not slowed down one bit since the nuclear deal, under Obama or Trump. They just chose to test one after his UN speech as a way to say "# you", but it has no real meaning other than that.

Yep, if Trump was a more sophisticated leader, like Obama, Iran wouldn't be testing missiles anymore because the nuclear deal "brought them into the international community" and "eased tensions" right?

Typical false accusations since you can't logically address anything I said. This has nothing to do with whether you're a fan of Trump or not. It's a fact that Iran has continued testing missiles under Obama and Trump. Nothing you can say will change that. You could have just not been aware of that before, now you know, so don't blatantly and knowingly lie and continue to pretend Trump is the only reason their missile program continues.
