If they want to be on the ballot in California for the primary and for the 50 something electoral votes in the general, they have to release their taxes from the most recent 5 years. I think it's fair. It's about transparency. If they have nothing to hide, then they should do so.

California has 172 delegates in the GOP primary, so if Trump is to have a chance to be the GOP nominee again in 2020, then he will have to release his taxes.

I think that and a health and mental fitness check should be the norm....(both candidates in 16 would have probably been disqualified.)

Trump will be the incumbent. There will not be a GOP primary this time around.

I wonder how this will get by the legal system. Other than California's system anyway.

What transparency are you looking for? Trump get audited like every year and has a team of tax lawyers working to ensure all is done within the law, so just what is it you want to find? I bet we would find more "flaws" on your taxes than his...lol

How about releasing their medical history too for the public to see?

Just goes to show how racist California is. Everyone knows it's racist to ask a presidential candidate to provide documents. At least it was 8 years ago.

If there was complete transparency in the election process, we would never have any candidates.

Heck, they don't even have to take a pee test, let alone release medical records.

Taxes are waaaay down on the list of things that make a candidate fit for office.

And the poverty and homeless problems in California will continue.

They always spend money on the wrong things !!

Well, Brown himself hasn't released his tax returns either.

Also, this is potentially new territory and will face stiff opposition.

It is NOT a requirement to reveal your taxes if you're running for office.

Really?

1943-1953 Earl Warren Republican
1953-1959 Goodwin Knight Republican
1967-1975 Ronald Reagan Republican
1983-1991 George Deukmejian Republican
1991-1999 Pete Wilson Republican
2003-2011 Arnold Schwarzenegger Republican

So over the last 75 years, all them damn ''lefties'' have been overwhelmingly voting for Republican governors. And barring the ''love affair'' that many of them seem to have with Pat Brown and his son Jerry, the only other Democrat governor was Gray Davis the only one to not stay for two full terms.
