So I woke up early today and wasn't feeling right. Something was off.
Then I felt a pain in my back by my kidney. Then it started getting worse, thought my appendix was about to burst.
The pain got so bad I started vomiting and passing out. I almost called 911 but managed to drive 30 miles to ER.
Made it to ER and passed out before I got to help window.
Woke up on guerny. In extreme pain again, finally morphine.

Ahhhh morphine......sweet relief, this was the most painful experience of my life!!!!!

I have been where you are literally hundreds of times....I pass about 100 a year. If it gets to a point of surgery or ultrasound to break it up....surgery is quicker, but the process of getting the stint taken out a week later really, REALLY sux... The ultrasound will be a very painful trip to the bathroom...you are not passing one big stone, but hundreds of tiny ones, that is very painful, but in the long run, is a better option in my mind.

I wish you the best of luck, and enjoy the morphine!

Perhaps when the stone finally passes you could keep it and post a photo and turn it into some jewelry.

Actually, There is an oddities shop in NYC that will buy them and turn them into jewelry and sell them. After seeing them and feeling them, it reminds me that I do not understand some people...

They said it was small, only
2mm but they said size doesn't determine pain. a reply to: Cloudbuster

Oh you poor poor soul! I've had 3, the worst pain I have EVER felt.
It hasn't helped me but if your stone is the right kind lemon juice (lemonade) May help shrink the stones. Good luck to ya!

This brings to mind a joke about Stanley who passed Livingstone in Africa and said it was very, very painful.

Actually, no. Most of them pass with out me knowing I have one until I go to the bathroom. I probably do the hospital 4 times a year, and that is when I am on meds. I really hate using them, though, and will try to tough it out. BTW, my biggest was 21mm. That was my first surgery my first days of classes the first year I went out of state to college.

Why do you get so many, is it genetic, or dietary, or what?a reply to: theatreboy

I get them often. It's something in my diet, haven't isolated it yet. But I have good news for you. When you do pass it, the relief will be the most amazing feeling ever. (better than even that)

It is genetic. They have analyzed many of them and can not figure what it is. When you pass this one, they will do the same to yours, and with luck, it will be something that diet will help control.

From what I have learned, most people have kidney stones, they just never get big enough to feel.

I really feel your pain. I have suffered with them before.
Once you have had one then you are likely to get more in future. Cola supposedly helps to break them down but that takes a while and is to late for this one.
