Defcon warning system detects RADIATION from North Korea amid nuclear World War 3 threat

The worrying new report said: “It is difficult to know exactly how much radiation to expect, as the radiation is likely being released due to a collapse at the nuclear test site in North Korea. “The test was done underground, but the testing site collapsed due both to the power of the explosion as well as due to repeated tests.” According to the report, unusual radiation levels were detected in Jiln and Sandong province’s near China’s order with North Korea.

GG North Korea its been fun while it lasted. I specifically remember reading that if China detects radiation on its soil they will personally step in. Well its now been detected. Lets see if China follows through on its threat.

I would really hate to be at Chinas boarder and piss them off in a way that seriously puts them at risk. Granted the Old men in Beijing may just fine them a few billion and pocket the proceeds because they couldn't care less about the country folk in the west. However if NK can't pay the bill in full they are in for a sore behind I reckon.

Unless people is dying by the 1000...

I do not think China will take notice of this.
they got at good trade deal with NK, and they do not want to loose it

I still think a smart gamble is to wait until Lil' Kim pisses off China enough to step in. If the radiation is significant, the least they'll do is tell him "no more nuke testing, dumb ass" and that would resolve what most of the international community is stressed about.

True, but he doesn't have to test it anymore. Now he has to work on the delivery mechanism.

Yes. And he will continue until he gets the range that he needs.

Improvements equal testing.

The US still tests their arsenal, still improve them. They just have the technology to test on the smallest scale possible.

I imagine nearly all nuclear powers can do this.

I doubt he will get that far unless this is 'a new Pearl Harbour'.

I really really hope not. It was wrong the first time and it's still wrong now.

Apparently the last test by the US was in 1992.

This report is just smut really isn't it?

I can't find any other sources, by sources I mean reporters I'd trust with my kids... I don't have any kids.

Anyways. If the tunnel collapsed and if radiation leaked from the complex, one needs to remember it's radiation from explosions. It makes a difference... Just like the fact these explosions happened underground matters.

Airborne particles that are highly radioactive is a completely different kettle of fish.

I'd at a guess say that most of the world wants a leak... We could then determine the nature of the bomb.

That is a good point. So then he will continue to test.

Yeah it would be bad for nations to sit back and let it happen.

Yep but now they test a couple of isotopes and watch them with a huge x-ray.

Wasting weapons grade nuclear material isn't a go to unless you have to, they must ensure all those bombs won't be duds, so. They test them.

I'm not sure where I heard it but apparently North Korea has a problem acquiring Plutonium. It's got tonnes of uranium though and the capabilities to keep enriching it.

You can get plutonium from uranium enrichment, but it's a slow process and you don't get much. As I understand it, uranium requires a gun-type detonation, making the device bigger. Plutonium requires implosion, the device can be a lot smaller.

I think anyways... Others here are much more clued up on the topic.

But yes, the tests won't stop.

It won't resolve nothing. He is done testing, there is no need for him to test ever again because he achieved the holy grail of H Bomb thermonuclear detonation. You cannot scare the world any further than that.
