As I understand it, DACA survived BECAUSE there was no path to citizenship, residency or any kind of perceived "legal status". It's a "parole' program. These "criminals" have turned themselves in. They've surrendered.

Is that your question? Why didn't they follow the legal route to citizenship?

BECAUSE, there is no route to citizenship for immigrants who have committed the crime of illegal entry. But, we are talking about children, even though years have passed, and they're not little kids any more.

DACA is a "parole" program. It offers no legal status, no residency status, no path to citizenship.

In order to apply for citizenship in the USA, one must have held a Green Card for no less than 5 years. To get a Green Card, one must have legal status.

Which is why we need comprehensive immigration reform. That is what president Trump is calling for now from congress, isn't it? The only way that can happen is if congress is pushed into actually DOING THEIR JOBS. yes, those high paying, golden benefit carrying, elected positions.

Can't they put aside their petty political partisanship, this one time.

Most Apply to DAPA but would be the basis of the 10 State AG challenge to DACA. Even Obama's lawyers on DACA say the State AG's would win.

Instead trump took that responsibility as part of a political gamble..

Set a time table where if the GOP doesn't act the ramifications would be horrible for everyone, and then get the wall funded..

However that assumes the GOP acts rationally and they do not..

You do realize that after 6 months, if congress doesn't come together, Trump can extend it a year, six months, however long he wants.

That way, he looks like a hero and congress looks like even worse scum than they already are.
