I just saw it as a political Gish Gallop and treated it as such. There is no point in addressing each of those strawmans individually. He didn't have to think hard to strawman the left, but you have to expend a lot of effort correcting him when he obviously won't care about being correct. Not worth it.

It's not about "loving Muslims" any more or less than any other religious group. Mostly it's a rejection of the demagoguery of those on the far-right who seem hellbent on a religious war and on the domestic end, a reaction to Islamaphobia, which leads to hate crime, calls for the infringement of civil liberties of an entire religious group and foments an atmosphere of fear and distrust that makes people less likely to contact authorities about members of their community and young people (particularly) more susceptible to "radicalization."

As for being offended by the word "God?" Not at all. But I think it's interesting that you have taken concern over the separation of church state as anti-Christian and then paired it with this nonsense about "loving Muslims" as though we're all forced with a choice between Christianity and Islam?

I think your projection says a lot more about you and your programming than it does about anyone on the Left or what they believe. It sure seems that you view the world as a series of false dichotomies and so you assume that everyone else must also form their opinions in much the same way.

You actually think the far right is anywhere near as insane as the muslims are on GOD ISSUES?

Not worth it to correct him, no, since it would be a wasted effort. This much is evidenced by the fact that the individual was prepared to engage in spurious, repeated, and as the link you provided states, belt fed nonsense. However, for anyone reading this thread who is not familiar with the tactic, and has no current firm position on the matters pertaining to the content of the OP itself, it might have an effect on how they see the topics covered, and at least provides stout rebuttal, which is available for reading by any new members or lurkers.

That is the only reason I find it worth doing at all.

A great deal of people on the left, wanted Hillary to bugger off out of the race completely, from the get go, as it happens. They were not well publicised, because if they had been, it would have damaged the control mechanism being applied by the media, gone against the narrative.

The only reason most on the left supported Hillary was because she was the only competent politician to choose from after the primaries. I didn't like Bernie being shafted by the DNC, but even if he wasn't he still wasn't going to get the votes to be nominated. He never polled well with minorities and that was what ultimately did him in during the primaries.

But I guess for you it is easier to derisively and arrogantly talk down to us so you don't have to bother understanding our position and claim victory.

I have been privately told by multiple life long Democrats that "I don't like Trump... I would never vote for him... but the hysteria and behavior of many on the left, including some of my friends makes me sick. It is out of control. The sad thing is, the most rabid anti-trump folks are either doing someone else's bidding, or repeating something they heard from one of their left leaning darlings in the media. Talk about "low information voters".

It is stunning to me, how many folks are still caught up in the D/R theatrics virus. They still don't grok who, what and why is running the show.

Also to be fair... there is PLENTY not to like about Trump. I see him as the archetypal Trickster/Fool... his job is to disrupt. He has been brought into being by the unconscious of Americans because we needed a disrupter... and we got him.

The peril is in what is being disrupted... the entrenched power in DC and their paymasters around the globe. They will not go without a fight.

I think he NEEDS a general Kelly as COF... but it's unfortunate his bodyguard and confidant of 20 years is leaving.

There are folks in the corridors of power, who would rather start a world war, than be exposed. That's pathetic.

For the sake of discussion... there are multiple contrivances in the OP... but hey, it's an ATS forum and a posting on politics, yo!

That said, there are MANY rock solid points of considerable dissonance mentioned, that many on the left can't seem to recognize as being in conflict.

These sorts of things on both the right and left are the nexus of nearly all our political discord in America, because there's something like a rabid political co-dependency in the body politic. Any kind of political extremism is rooted in ignorance.

By all appearances... Democrats at large, apparently have felt left out of being broad brushed as extremist and non-sensical... the way some right wing factions have in the past.

They have certainly gotten the job done... I've seen some crazy looniness over the years, much of it from the right. Many on the left have really out done themselves this time though... and it's not smaller factions like it usually is with right wingnuts. It's a HUGE faction of folk on the left whose hair is on fire and running around screaming "The sky is falling... the sky is falling!"

I suppose there's a silver lining... it's made most media unwatchable to me. There really is no down side to that. LOL
