having slaves like the entire rest of the planet at that time.

Uh...what?

1777 - Vermont abolishes slavery.

1811 - Spain abolishes slavery, including in all of it's colonies.

1833 - Great Britain abolishes slavery, including in all of it's colonies.

1846 - All slaves in the Danish West Indies are freed, by law.

1848 - France abolishes slavery.

1858 - Portugal abolishes slavery in all of it's colonies.

And nearly all of those countries outlawed the slave trade before they outlawed slavery itself.

So...no, the "entire rest of the world" was not still in the slavery business. Yes, the south went to war for "the freedom to do what they wanted." And a big thing they wanted to do was keep slavery, unlike most of the rest of the civilized world.

And there you have it the Colonies were founded during slavery, and ended slavery less than 100 years after the US Constitution was created. The legal language enabling the justification, there is freedom of all men is in its backbone. Racist want you to believe otherwise so you can hate on the US and its people. Wonder why that is so? Could be because we wrestled power to govern ourselves from the elite.

I like how you try to spin the demolition of your previous comment as totally wrong from a factual perspective into somehow actually proving your comment correct. Lol

Yea, think that and miss the point again.

ETA

Does that mean you admit to being a racist who hates people for skin color?

Or maybe you want them to be those people so bad, that your mind sees them there no matter who they are in reality.

Just maybe.

So you continue to not have anything relevant to say?

So you admit to killing gays because it makes you feel good?

I can ask random, nonsensical, completely irrelevant questions too.

Sadly it's reality in the US at present - see the UN warning to the US and how key advisers like Gorka have been openly neo-nazi and funding/backing neonazi banned millitias in Europe for the past decade - they're only now getting the boot after deaths in the US. Trump administration was more than happy to appoint them despite their chequered past and still has plenty of neo-nazi officials and advisors.

Racism will always be a concern. It should be a concern in any society, but in a free society, we must also accept the fact that there will always be racists.

Racism is an ugly thing. It is an ugly thought-process.

But instead of being "thought police", we should lead by example and teach by example instead of forcing people to think in any certain way.

Bloody well spot on.

This is the most reasoned and intelligent thought regarding racism I've read on ATS.

lol "weak snowflakes" thats funny. I don't care much for racist but what does that say to "victim blacks"? Would that imply that they are even more inferior to weak snowflakes? If they are so weak why didnt they just beat that arse. Those weak snowflakes, I think, have proved for decades that they have no problem suppressing people with words and brute force.. just not sure what that makes the "inferiors"? only a liberal could come up with such a stupid term that only downplays the very black community they are "protecting". You guys are scared of statues for crying out loud, as if Robert E Lee is some type gargoyle who goes slaving blacks on full moon.

Best way to stop racism, on either side, is to shut hell up and stop giving it a voice.

You just keep on sticking up for white supremesists

Yeah, just maybe.
And maybe there are just and upright folk guiding our civilization to the best of their ability from those boardrooms and high offices. That's what I would really want to believe those people to be.

Yet power structures do not relinquish power easily. They have power because as structures they abide by past successes and have built upon those successes. And hence hold to those successes. Generational enterprises pass on the learning's and perspectives of the grandfather to the father to the son to the child, and many of those power structures had their beginnings back when racial superiority was inbred in many European family lines.

So my previous point is not saying that there are white racists in those positions within the power structures of society, just that to me at least, it would be a surprise to learn that there are not.

This is dumb, all the foot work has been done. HSTORY anyone. anyone met a Tasmanian. problaby not. they were wiped off the face of the earth by white supremecy, king leopold african holocaust 15 million dead, what about native americans, aborigines, western medicine aka poison. unfortunately history has been shaped by white supremacy which i prefer to call domination because it obviously aint supreme. current times its much more of a phycological war then physical. hell weve had lynchings in ca in the last few years. this is the age of enlightenment for lots of people so yeas white supremacy will weaken bit by bit and be replaced by a natural system of love god willing

ANY man who values SKIN above life, is a walking target.
They can't tell because they are backed by popular cultural bias.
SERIOUS people, who are color blind as Dr.King suggested, are getting fed up.

I've said it clearly and succinctly in a selfless manner, drawing the criticism for daring to state the truth. Others like you, have diverted for selfish reasons that promote hate IMO and that IS the whole point. The haters will hate and the rest of us get to deal with them... So, if the shoe fits you for being any kind of Racist towards any skin color or ethnicity, then you should reflect inwardly and try to turn that into love and kindness sprinkled in with a bit of action to help another human being. The rest of us are waiting for the racist and haters to catch up....... Time is of the essence with violence in the streets.

AMEN!

People are their own choices and making it about skin colors, race or greed is just wrong.

Correcting your erroneous statement that the entire world was balls deep in slavery and that thanks to America it ended is not perpetuating hate in any way, shape, or form.

The fact that you're trying to paint the correction of your revisionist version of history as promoting hate is, frankly, idiotic. Clearly you realize that you can't defend your revisionist history, and have tried to deflect with accusations of racism and hating America.

Pathetic.

Yes, racialism, the idea that mankind can be subdivided into distinct groups called "races", is a concept that should be thouroughly refuted, because to do otherwise necessarily leads to racism.

You're free to embrace a racist approach if that is what you desire.

I try to live my life by valuing people on the content of their character.

I guess the real racists are following Alisnky's Rules for Radicals and making it like the good people are racists to create the narrative.

Indeed you're whole line of thinking is pathetic. Re write history to suit you as you are doing, is very dangerous for society. I call BS.
