actually no I dont get ads on youtube. Only ATS. I pay for what I like with my dollars, not my mind.
Id give ATS 1$ a month to not have ads.

anyway.

You know what woukd be interesting for a thread?
a history going to 1900s 1800s 1700s 1400s about this same topic.. just without the brandname mandela effect. ..

for instance I used to call it "reality shifts."

if its a thing it should exist by many names and throughout many cultures.

Obviously whether its a thing or not people can think its a thing.. Has this been on our minds before?

I remember (haha that word again) threads on ATS about people seeing alternate realities like time warps.. Go into a gas station and its 5 pennies for a chocolate bar.. Guy pumped their gas.. Then try to find the gas station again and its all woods..

If not anything else humans are good story tellers.

I always wonder though.
What IS reality.

There are websites about mis- heard and or misremembered song lyrics. Classic songs people get wrong are Jimi Hendrix - "Scuse me while I kiss this guy" ("Scuse me while I kiss the sky") and Credence Clearwater Revival's - "There's a bathroom on the right" ("There's a bad moon on the rise").

Apparently, the latter was so widespread that in live performances Jon Fogerty would sometimes slip the "bathroom" version into live performances.

So for the love of God can we please not have all this ME crap when it's just people misremembering/mishearing things and not time shifts or whatever caused by CERN?

I love a good conspiracy theory but this sort of guff is just becoming a royal pain in the butt.
back in 2010 i would hear this high pitched voice say "reality is changing" repeatedly for hours. Then years later i discover the mandela effect. I first noticed the vw logo had changed for me. Then the bible..mickey mouse etc..

I personaly heard vortexes swirling sounds around me for months. One actually pulled my arm up into it. I saw cars dissapear. People too. I personaly believe its a technology causing these dimension shifts. If not tech. Then God or whatever you call the great determiner is doing something big.

Then there's that porn music rift...

I always thought it was:
"Boom Chicka wah wah"

...but I think the Mandela Effect has caused it to become:
"Bow Chicka wow wow"

The moon didn't change. Only perspective does depending on if you have to look north or south to see it.

but it is actually

"Goo goo ga joob..."

I see this argument quite often, but I haven't seen anybody who believes in the Mandela Effect subsequently use it as a framework to insist they can't be wrong about anything.

I believe I experienced a Mandela Effect, I don't believe that it's the result of parallel dimensions or time travel. The most logical answer based on our current understanding of science is that it's to do with collective memory formation, however, I've yet to read a study that adequately explains how so many people from different countries all share almost identical memories about certain topics.

Personally, I have been wrong on many occasions before I discovered the concept of the ME and had no problem revising my opinion based on new information. I see the claims that people who believe they experienced the ME are somehow arrogant, yet why do they not use this as a framework for everything else they've been wrong about if that's the case? Why is it only seemingly trivial things that people are so adamant have changed? It's not as if believing in the ME has any positive impact on someone's life. At best the person will be labelled as arrogant or crazy. Why are so many people willing to admit to experiencing differences to their memory, which seem to be very similar to other people's recollections but they are only ever for seemingly trivial things?

There have been lots of reported Mandela Effects from individuals but very few are agreed upon by multiple people. When they are agreed upon by multiple people the memories seem to be very similar or almost identical meaning that if you were to try and make a knowingly fake Mandela Effect, very few people would jump on the bandwagon and agree with the memory.

Why are so many people willing to be called arrogant and insane for topics that don't really matter but they still admit to being wrong about many other things in their lives and don't use it as a framework to never be wrong for more important things?

Not everyone who experiences the ME believes it is s result of parallel dimensions either yet this claim is often thrown out as is the accusation of being arrogant. In my experience of talking to people who believe they have experienced the ME neither of these claims are true. Most experiencers are confused and are willing to accept more conventional responses of poor memories etc, however, there are very few studies into the formation of collective false memories so they don't believe there is enough data to reach that conclusion at present.

I haven't seen a topic on conspiracy forums that generate the level of vitriol as the Mandela Effect and am interested as to why people who haven't experienced it are so hostile and dismissive and often make claims about so called "believers" (such as they are arrogant or automatically assume it's the result of parallel dimensions when very few ME experiencers even claim that the ME is the result of parallel dimensions)
