The following video lays out the facts about slavery, the KKK and the Democratic parties involvement in suppressing the rights of black people. It starts with Abraham Lincoln and ends with Lyndon B. Johnson. It lays out the tactics the Democratic party used in order to keep blacks from integrating into society and their attempts to prevent blacks from gaining rights.

A good watch if you have 6 free minutes.

As I stated before - Black people voting for Democrats would be like having Jews voting for the SS.

It doesn't matter, the people that need to watch this won't. The left is in such denial total denial that nothing will get through to them, not even shipping them off to Venezuela to show them the first hand effects of their ideology.

Upset? Nope.

Confused? Yup.

The founding of the Republican party was as an anti slavery party so im not sure what part of that you are disagreeing with and why.

In your view why was the Republican party founded?

I wasn't around then, So I couldn't say. But your ideals do not hold up to the history of the party.
But let us discuss this, when you create a thread, so we do not go off topic here,

That's the way capitalism works. What would you rather have as the alternative?

Sure, that's what it sounds like. Full disclosure however, I am ignorant to the whole argument of 'party-switching' and such.

Yes for the most part and the Republicans were mostly Liberal Left.

The democrats were the more tradition-minded party. They were also the party focused on keeping taxes low and when it came to promoting commerce, etc... wanted to leave it to the states. Generally speaking, they were the "states' rights" party.

The shift started after the Civil War and continued for over 135 years. After the civil war, the republicans started to split into factions generally divided between how deep "in bed" you got with big business, so they developed a conservative business wing often at odds with with the more progressive wing. The democrats pretty much stayed the states rights party and were marginalized at the national level for several decades.

Do you trust history.com?

In Ripon, Wisconsin, former members of the Whig Party meet to establish a new party to oppose the spread of slavery into the western territories. The Whig Party, which was formed in 1834 to oppose the “tyranny” of President Andrew Jackson, had shown itself incapable of coping with the national crisis over slavery.
With the successful introduction of the Kansas-Nebraska Bill of 1854, an act that dissolved the terms of the Missouri Compromise and allowed slave or free status to be decided in the territories by popular sovereignty, the Whigs disintegrated. By February 1854, anti-slavery Whigs had begun meeting in the upper midwestern states to discuss the formation of a new party. One such meeting, in Wisconsin on March 20, 1854, is generally remembered as the founding meeting of the Republican Party.

And I will admit, although registered republican, my leaning are more libertarian.
