Fact is, disabled children require much more support than average.

Well, I'll give. You didn't directly post statistcs, but you likened this to killing off "half the population" - like Hitler.

And you take what I said out of context. The part where "it limits your ability to live your own life" was followed by "so you cannot provide love and care for your child." Not many people cope well with raising a downs child. I'ts heartbreaking to see how many of them are just left at institutions due to parents who are not up to it. I as a human, would rather die than rot away at an institution. I have seen people give it all they got for many years. Most (not all) give up because of the extreme difficulty of taking care of someone that is that handicapped. I know this ain't exactly what is right, but its often the resault non the less.

Why kill the parents? If I am correct Switzerland has been running its program for a few decades. All they do is before you're allowed to marry you must show that there are no genetic defects in your lineage. If you have they wont give you the licence to get married.

Yes, yes you can have children without getting married but in Switzerland it's a big no, no.

But there are whole societies in Europe that want to prevent people with Down's Syndrome from being born.

They hate people with Down's Syndrome so much that they don't want any of them in the population.

But if a person said that they didn't want someone with Down's Syndrome sitting next to them of a bus..... OH!

choosing to terminate in this scenario is an incredibly hard decision!

with a lot of genetic syndromes the children live in pain, serious pain. I know this first hand because my son was born with trisomy 18 (a more serious syndrome than down.) he passed away a few years ago at 23. he never spoke but i'm know he lived in pain, and I still feel quilt.. I am grateful for every second I had with him and I wish he was still with me, but I will never demonize someone for choosing to terminate. and, parents who decide to go to term have my upmost respect, as well.

these are very hard decisions for the parents and to call it murder is just awful, disgusting op.

Abortion on demand is legal. I'm asking you, and the OP, if you think it should be illegal. If it should be illegal for a woman who wanted a child, but then finds out that her developing fetus has downs syndrome, to opt to abort, then what do we do about women who are aborting healthy fetuses on demand?

Why single out women whose fetuses are diseased for forced birth? Why start there?

Not all of us are alt lefties. Personally I will be polite when I tell you that I like where my couch is and I will consume what I want as long as it isn't affecting anyone else.
