Someone already mentioned this is apparently private property. Problem solved.

Maybe her supporters can just yell and drown out other voices till they get their way. Seems to be her pattern.

You honestly think something little like "Private property" will stop someone like that?

The mountain itself is state owned....the grounds around it are private. The company that owns the grounds basically has a 50 year lease to use them.

I guess the state could remove it, but if they tried, you'd see a VERY large pissed off bunch of people in Atlanta.

He was an imperfect American. The Confederates were not American, they were traitors to our great nation.

Weren't the confederates given amnesty and allowed to come back to the United States as citizens!? Geez you REALLY need to get into a history book and actually read it

Do we have monuments to the British generals who fought against our Union?

Actually, there are quite a few.

This is what the Taliban did when they bombed the Bamiyan Buddhas. If you whitewash history, you will not learn from history.

Taliban erase 2,000 years of history by BOMBING Bamiyan Buddhas

They should not be celebrated and should be forgotten.

Fine, do not celebrate them. But DO NOT FORGET OUR HISTORY. We cant just whitewash history that we find uncomfortable. Something something something learn from history, something something something, doomed to repeat it.

It's not our history. Do we have monuments to the British generals who fought against our Union? The Confederates were all traitors who took up arms against American ideals.

The Civil War is not our history??

What in the actual hell are you on about??

Can you point to another traitor that we have monuments to? Do we have monuments of the British who fought against our brave populace in the Revolutionary war?

There's a statue of Lenin in Seattle(? or somewhere around there).

Who else finds it hilarious that all these people who all for the removal of Confederate statues because of the slavery issue (which was only a tiny reason, and one of many, for the civil war) are working for and are spending money which features the faces of slave owners? Do you know how ridiculous that is? What are you going to do? Burn your money? Issue your own money?

Leave them all in place. Add many more showing the atrocities of slavery with educational plaques explaining just how bad slaves were oppressed, and just how bad slavemasters could be.

So we don't forget.

Losers don't get trophies

Yes they do the last administration got a peace prize just for showing up. So yes losers do get trophies. As for this not my history stance are you American? If so denying your countries history is traitoist as well. Denying the future of history good or bad.

Start what? I said leave them all in place. But make more, bigger and more intrusive statues showing all the bad things done to slaves. Make all the confederate memorial statues look small and pathetic in comparison.

I thought you meant put monuments ect at the same locations as slaveholder monuments, that would probably have a bigger effect as those visiting would see both sides.

The American civil war was fought on both sides by Americans. The South fought for their version of America and the North fought for their version. But they were still both Americans.
So the North won and their version was adopted.
The South fought for their version they didn't fight to eradicate the United States, if they did then you could call them traitors. But it's just the same today with the democrats and republicans. So by your definition the losers are traitors because they fought the winning party.

It's private property.
The family that also owns Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO bought the park years ago.

I used to live close enough to spend idle days at the park.
Always thought it was some form of irony when buses full of black kids would unload in the parking lot in full sight of the bas-relief of JAckson, Davis, and Lee, who would probably all cringe at the thought of free black people.

I suggest you go read up on Jackson, I doubt he would mind at all considering he spent every Sunday teaching the slaves to read and write, and while off at war he continued to send money back to his church so they could buy supplies to continue teaching the slaves.

He accepted slavery as it was normal for his time, but did what he could to improve the lives of slaves that were within his sphere of influence.

He sounds like a true humanitarian. If I ever own slaves I'll make sure that they are literate.
