Democrats Threaten Gov’t Shutdown To Block Border Wall

Looks like "The Wall" is going to play a major part of the upcoming national budget.

So major in fact, some elected officials are threatening to let the money funnels clog up !!

Oct 1st could bring on a government shutdown that could send workers home for an extended paid holiday !!

So much for "brick and mortar".

Democrats are threatening to shutter many government agencies on October 1 unless President Donald Trump gives up his popular campaign promise to build the border wall against Mexico, according to Politico

In response, Trump’s deputies are offering political compromises to Democrats, including a rise in domestic spending, says Politico:

The White House is pushing a deal on Capitol Hill to head off a government shutdown that would lift strict spending caps long opposed by Democrats in exchange for money for President Donald Trump’s border wall with Mexico, multiple sources said.

Marc Short, the White House’s director of legislative affairs, met with top staffers from both parties on the Senate Appropriations Committee last week to make a hard sell for the proposal, the sources said.

Short — who said the border funding would be used for a “double fence” — stressed that the White House is insisting on a down payment for construction this fall. Short also lobbied for a big budget increase for the Pentagon, another priority for Trump.

This government has been shut down for a long long time.

Even the idea of a wall ever being built makes me laugh. I just don't get it. Humans can overcome walls, you know? Dig, climb, use a boat, fly, etc. It may keep some wildlife at bay...

But yes, by all means, let's call the government for what it is: shutdown. I don't care the reason.

Don't these people remember the last time the Republicans caused a shutdown? How will the left and right view this situation this time. Will democrats end up making a deal after getting a political blackeye? The Republicans are suppose to be for less government spending. How does this hurt their appeal to their base. Shutdown the government, supposedly save some money and then cut a deal. This does not seem like a good deal for the democrats.

Let them shut down for any length of time and watch the rest of us realize that life goes on without them.

Apparently, Democrats love seeing mothers and daughters killed and rapped by Illegal Aliens. Even CNN is now calling the party a disaster.. Yes CNN!

It would be like an early christmas present. Maybe they would keep it shutdown for several months. But then they run the chance of people finding out that things would start improving after the 1st month and we can't have that.

Must be more hot air because their voter base lives and breaths big government. It would hurt them a lot more than they will ever realize.

If Trump and the Repubs aren't part of some grand play they will have the balls to allow them to shut it down.

I can only see that working for the Repubs in the long term.

Any best on whether or not Trump shuts down veterans' access to their war memorials? Or stops tours of the White House for school kids? Or shuts down national park access like his predecessor did?

They're called 'weekends'

But remember the cries of outrage when the Republicans we accused of threatening a shut down?

They were murderers that would be responsible for untold deaths of the people that rely on the government to survive!

But now, those same people that said that will say nothing.

But I will compliment the dems, they stick together.

The republicans are liars and cowards; they threaten gov shut down then cave in. They want Obamacare repeal and yet the back down.

The dems will actually follow through with the shut down and almost always vote as a cohesive group.

Want proof? The repubs have never trumpers, but not even anti corporation Bernie was never Hillary, the most corporate politician ever.

The Veteran community is firmly behind Trump.

Let them shut down the border wall and invest in more border patrol and ICE agents. They are doing a pretty good job thus far. Adds more jobs. Though think ICE needs a bit more compassion

Democrats are anti American and care more about non citizens than Americans themselves.

Plus they're hysterical babies constantly throwing tantrums.
