Lighthouse

Though thunderous skies obscure the stars
And storm raised waves threaten and roil
Though driving rain and lightning blast
Flood the decks and spoil the mast

Though alone, abandoned, lost at sea
Tied to the wheel of cruel destiny

Though swamped and battered, bruised and torn
Broken hearted, battle worn

I will not yield
I will not break
I will not cede nor capitulate
I will not capsize into hate
I will strive on to turn my fate

Though the twisting trials of shadow’s fall
Wind round my heart and bloody my soul
I will not satisfy the Deep
I will not give in to Dark and Sleep

I will cling ere to the Light
Who’s lantern burns all through the Night
For all such lost ships such as I
A beacon Home
An angel Bright
Till waters calm
My course made right

I have a thing for lighthouses . . and good writing.
