Sometimes I HATE this place!!!

When that used to happen to me, I would make a point to remember to capture the content before hitting reply.

That's pretty much what I do whenever I compose anything, anywhere.

Select all, copy all, (sometimes paste all in another location) just in case.

Why aren't you creating it offsite.. .then pasting it in? I've been doing that for years.. .never lose anything.

When it looks good? Then put it in-post

Wow, how patient..., any thoughts whats causing that or the other problem of disappearing posts?

Just observing, a long post might take a while to prepare, during which time loss of connection with the website occurs, but the posting window is still open and accepting your text on your computer screen .

When trying to post (upload) the connection is been broken so we get the 404 or server not found, implying something to do with the internet,not the site.

A long time ago a mod t old us about creating offsite and then pasting 'cause a connection could stop anytime.. .

It is a great idea. Create a doc.. .save it.. .then paste it.. .although. ..there's a few saved I wish I'd have not!

Shame it wouldn't happen to all the American politics threads that have been blighting this site for the past couple of years.

When one of my posts disappeared into the inter web--ah fudge!! (Except I didn't say 'fudge' I said THE word. The BIG one. The Queen Mother of dirty words!)

Now I have a word doc (or text pad) open when creating threads. I have like, seven, pages of stuff, some of which I didn't bother to even post. I also have a bunch of common BBcodes sitting there for quick usage.

Get into the habit of ctrl-A, ctrl-C if have not already. I once lost 3 replies to a single post and ended up giving up.

I think we all have had that happen to us at one time or another.

What do you do when you double-post??

What do you do when you double-post??

At all costs, resist the temptation to click reply again.

I usually have other tabs open, leave the 'hung' window and go back to ATS from another tab. I don't have to wait staring at a blank screen that says "inserting your reply..." Sooner or later the 'log jam' clears and the post appears.
