I'm embarrassed for America that CNN is based here.

Can we send it to Candida and rename it Canadian News Network?

Ok. You are arguing an irrelevant point in regards to the OP.

There is no narrative.

If intent didn't matter, and if it wasn't that big of a deal, then why did Cillizza tweet the edited clip with the incessant OMGs?

He later said he found it funny. Other than that, I don't know.

Even though you've done an admirable job of pretending that you do not understand the subtleties and nuances of human language and communication, I think you know exactly why Cillizza's tweet is so pathetic.

Yes, it's pathetic because it's immature. It's not pushing fake news or any narrative, as the OP states.

Whether he was immature or not is a talking point about his character. The fact is that he pushed a video designed to portray a fake narrative.

OK. Now you have to prove the intent of the person that edited the video.

Can you do that?

No matter which side you're arguing for... ya'll gotta realize that you're being distracted and misdirected by a non-issue.

This idiotic topic is now HOT on ATS... surely you guys and gals can see what's going on here. I can't believe you are all bickering and arguing over this. It's pathetic.

Seriously... stop acting like sheep. Discourse and strife over non-issues among the peasants is exactly how they win.

You are ALL falling for it.

Why would he have to?

Your argument that the intent of the person editing the video would change the nature of it being passed as fact when it isn't is a non sequitur.

It was not fact and was offered up as fact. The editing was integral to that conversion, since at one point to the person editing the original it was seen in its honest form.

The intent could have been humor for personal use, that wouldnt change the inherent skew of trying to make the original video what it is not.

The publishing of the information without fact checking just further validates the argument that journalism is not always held to the same industry standard.

Regulation I would like to see pass would have ALL media institutions follow a set of core standards as law instead of implied practice up to each outlets discretion.

Making sure a video is unedited would be part of that rule book and common sense.

Excuse me?
Are you now saying that we need to prove that a few seconds cut of a video showing a missed hand shake with the words LEGEND on the tweet was not intended to demean President Trump and suggest that the First Lady of Poland snubbed him?
Is that now your argument?

This thread is hilarious, yall whittled them down to whining over the use of 'omg'.

...I might start using this image every time I quote a few specific members on here.

But to kill the arugument that began about 12 pages back. The Polish president did in fact reference CNN, he clearly stated "FIGHT FAKE NEWS". CNN=FAKE NEWS The whole world is learning that meme now. lol

It would appear that now the argument that CNN was not pushing the video is lost, that the argument has shifted onto proving the video maker was trying to drive a false narrative

It's amazing how far people will go to defend Trump's attackers when the entire charge against CNN and others that pushed this false narrative is cut and dried.

How is the US supposed to set a good example for oppressed countries about the wonders of a free press and free speech, when the President of Poland needs to call out our embarrassing fake news?

Our news media should aspire to represent the good things about the freedom they are granted. Other countries should be looking at us saying .... WE need a free press like the US has, so that we always know the truth. Instead - other countries must be thinking that this is what happens with a free press - they LIE to the people to further their own agenda.

How totally, utterly embarrassing.

That is not what you said and not what I was responding to. This is what you said:

video designed to portray a fake narrative

You now have to prove the video was "designed", or edited, with the purpose of portraying a fake narrative.

So who edited the video and what was their intent?

at least don can probably get some sleep for a couple nights for he thinks the "world" is behind him now and fighting right there with him.

However, it will be much worse when he wakes up and sees that were still not going to put up with his BS.

Glad to see the BBC believes this is news worthy

"Donald Trump in handshake trouble... again"
BBC

Donald Trump's handshake is in the spotlight again after being inadvertently snubbed by the Polish president's wife.

Agata Kornhauser-Duda chose to greet Melania Trump before turning to the US president in Warsaw.

Whats going on is beyond surreal, I am just sitting back enjoying the $h!t show, curious as to how far this whole media mess will go.

truth is...she DOES obviously snub him for Melania...and the look on his face was so cute...but she apparently does come back for the shake, she didnt see him coming up to her.

This video can be EASILY edited, and the edited video can be EASILY debunked.

So for anyone to make such a big deal out of it ...is just asinine.

You are wasting your time with this story UTK

CNN journalist retweeted him all giddy like a school girl. He later said he knows the video was misleading and she did shake Trump's hand but the video was funny.

So he admitted pushing the fake news narrative.
