What is going on in the 'pines?

They have been hit hard since 2004 big tsunami and every year something big happens. Never caught my attention until now. Earlier this year Manila was hit.

Is there some major catastrophic disaster waiting to happen on that side of the globe that we don't know about.....yet?

It was a shallow quake which causes more damage

Officials said they were verifying reports of damage to roads and buildings in a mountain town in Leyte province......
..,...,Officials said the epicenter is in a mountainous area with small towns.

Rescuers rushed frantically to find people who were trapped in a three-story building that collapsed after a magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Leyte yesterday.

As of last night, at least two persons had been confirmed killed in the quake, one of them in the building that collapsed in Kananga town.

“We were able to retrieve one dead and one wounded,” Mayor Rowena Codilla told dzBB radio.

Codilla said she did not know how many more people were inside the building.

Prayers for all involved...

I can't imagine how horrible it would be to experience such a thing.

Thanks for the updates.

Power still out on island of Bohol, probably rolling "brownouts" in Cebu as they share power generated in Leyte. I experienced that for months after same power plant was hit by Typhoon Yolanda.
