In 1971, Iran became the first foreign country to be armed with the then state of the art BGM-71 TOW anti tank missile, which had entered service in the US only a year earlier. Over time, Iran has clone it and produced many variants of it as Toophan. The latest version is laser beam riding and has tandem HEAT. Iran backed militia in Syria and Iraq use Toophan in large numbers against Islamic State. Seen here it is mounted on vehicles to target other vehicles from several kilometers away.

From what I understand, it's them vs everyone.

Read the wiki it has a lot of sources.

They sure have a lot of influence from Saudi though, even if that is unintentional on the part of TPTB that run Saudi Arabia.

In fact I can see a high probability of a crisis occuring over the fact the ideology being almost identical between the IS and SA.

I have no idea how that crisis might develop but something has gotta give eventually. SA can't keep playing innocent for long.
