With that many miles,could also be the engine seals,you could try cleaning motor,then check after driving,otherwise you'll have a money pit,changing everything but what you need to

All of the different oils have a distinct smell, if its power steering fluid/automatic gearbox fluid, no matter how burnt it got you would smell it, engine oil like manual transmission oil has a distinct smell.

I owned an HQ one tonner (aussies will get it)years ago that taught me everything I needed to know about burning oils, that clapper leaked everything that could leak.
