It's a good start. Now let's see if they can get through Senate. Methinks this is the right thing to do. If Democrats oppose it, then they only hurt themselves in the 2018 election. Both bills are designed to protect Americans from illegal aliens who harm Americans on a daily basis. This coming Saturday is the second anniversary of Kate Steinle's murder at the hands of an illegal in San Francisco, where it is city policy to not cooperate with DHS to tackle illegals. Kate would have her final justice and she would be smiling in heaven if Senate also passes both bills.

twitter.com...

Kate's Law, which would increase the penalties for deported aliens who try to return to the United States and caught, passed with a vote of 257 to 157, with one Republican voting no and 24 Democrats voting yes. Kate's Law is named for Kate Steinle, a San Francisco woman killed by an illegal immigrant who was in the U.S. despite multiple deportations. The two-year anniversary of her death is on Saturday. President Trump called the bill's passage "good news" in a tweet, adding "House just passed #KatesLaw. Hopefully Senate will follow."

The other bill, which would deny federal grants to sanctuary cities, passed with a vote of 228-195 with 3 Democrats voting yes and 7 Republicans voting no.

All this changes is the sentences.

Maybe a bit more of a deterrent but I'm guessing that it won't really change much.

And why would one vote no ? How could you possibly support sanctuary cities ? They are a criminal endeavor at least, supporting illegal behavior.

No state or local areas should be built that harbor criminals. It is our societies job to stop criminal activity, not protect the offenders.

#44 enacted all that BS...

but he was excused for several idiotic reasons...it's time to rectify the continuing problem of Progressives using sexual preferences and skin color as 'Leverage' to despotic tendencies foisted on the population

sanctuary cities is a hateful time-bomb, put in place by a (censored)... just where is the family support group ?

This is what I find disturbing. We need to find out who those 7 Republicans are and say adios in the next election. It looks like there are only 3 real democrats left.

People sure love their partisan politics don't they?
Kate's law amends a law from 1952. All it seems to do is increase sentences and set a mandatory minimum in certain cases.

I don't care if they let the non criminal element of illegal immigrants stay. By that I mean I know they broke the law to get in, but if they are not hurting our country, then they are only helping. But the gangs, and the freeloaders, who hurt our country and economy. Bye Felicia.

That is true. Thank God for ICE though.

But the thread really isn't about #44 or ICE. It is about an amendment to a law which changes max 2 year sentences to 5 years and changes a max 20 year sentence to 5 min and 20 max.

There is that No Sanctuary law but I can't find the text for it so who knows what it is actually going to do.

It'll never pass the Senate.

Republicans and Democrats want illegals killing, raping, savaging, Americans.
