So this is interesting. Seems Kurt Russell may have been the pilot who spotted the Phoenix lights on night in question.

Okay, just for fact checking sake, he says he 'went to his log book', but didn't bring it with him to the interview, and...

the reports of a 'general aviation pilot report' come from recordings ( in Russel's voice) which we won't get to hear .

But he's celebrity and an actor, we believe him more than some 'generally unknown aviation pilot'.

Yes, we sort of do, because we always have the question "is he doing it for his 15 minutes of fame?" when people come forward with sensational claims.

In Kurt Russell's case that is not a factor.
That alone make it more credible.

I tend to think in terms of he's a paid actor. He is paid to lie. Anyway, he has the flight log, why didn't he produce it?

Edit: Everything he said is verifiable, but they present no actual verification, just an actors lines.

Because he was not trying to prove anything, to document it or even to 'disclose' it as such - he told it as an anecdote, as an interesting story that fit the context of the show he was on.

Cool.

And just another indication that people from all walks of life witness this stuff.

It's not just some loonies in the boonies.

I do think he was trying to make something of the fact that he'd forgotten the incident until the TV show Goldie was watching triggered his memory.

That type of amnesia is not uncommon in close encounter witnesses. Although that may not be at work here. Kurt lives a busy, eventful life. For him to forget such a thing doesn't seem as bizarre as it would be for the average Joe.
