Jeez. Those flames go all the way up on one side. At least there is (hopefully) an option for escape.

If history is any guide, that building will collapse into it's own footprint any second now.

Awful Fire. Hope they got everyone evacuated.

It looks hot enough to collapse. They should be clearing the whole area in case it drops.

"It's so heartbreaking, I've seen someone flashing their torches at the top level and they obviously can't get out."

That's horrible.

I hope they got everyone out. The report said there may be families still inside.

120 units, alot of lost personal property.

Obviously, we all hope for the best, but this one looks really bad.

Twitter reports of people jumping out to escape, hope that's not the case. Must have gone up quickly. Praying for the best.

So this is rather eerie, from the OP's AU source:

A blog late last yearby occupants of the tower warned only a catastrophic fire in the tower would “bring an end to the dangerous living conditions” of tenants and leaseholders.

“Unfortunately, the Grenfell Action Group have reached the conclusion that only an incident that results in serious loss of life of KCTMO residents will allow the external scrutiny to occur that will shine a light on the practices that characterise the malign governance of this non-functioning organisation.”

so they can house thousands of immigrants but can't afford to put a fire alarm in the building or a working fire alarm

either way so sad

Thoughts and prayers for those UK brethren affected by this. Looks like a hard one to fight.
