I am a hard left liberal and I will NOT defend Kathy Griffin

I am a staunch defender of free speech. I believe the courts or court of public opinion to decide if what she did was violent or hate speech....frankly I am bouncing back and forth but that's a bit much honestly.

Now with that said...

Though I am a socialist and hard left, I will NOT defend Kathy Griffin....not even a bit, What she did was grotesque and this is coming from someone who loathes Trump and everything he does. I am grateful CNN dropped her whether it for defense, for marketing concern or in the very slim chance they were legitimately upset with her move. Either way she is gone and she deserves it.

I hear my "side" shouting about unfair because people burned and hung "Obama" dolls. I think that was vile and hateful and so is this and that bullcrap Rape Melania sign.

Note that this doesn't mean I abandoned my ideals. I firmly believe them. But in practicality, some liberals sem to be truly filled with hate. And to say "we can do it because the right did it" is crap.

Now make no mistake, that doesn't absolve the right from the nasty stuff they say and do...but if we are wanting to be "better than" the other side, this is NOT the way to do it

Not that either side is showing their strong face anymore....and I really wish good conservatives and good liberals would wake up and be more vocal that social media spazzes

Either way....I do not condone her behavior...in fact I condemn it and I am glad CNN is rid of her.

The greatest thing about freedom of speech is that idiots expose themselves.

You sound like a real liberal. Not many left, it feels like.
I don't know how any of the SJW's of the modern left can consider themselves liberal. They are puritanical, hate-filled psychopath's and their behavior continues to prove it. No end in sight.

True that!
Easier to avoid.

Me too. Which is why I stayed out of those threads.
And why this will be my only post in this thread.

It's not often this right-winger gives an admitted socialist a star and flag, but in this case, you're spot-on!

Aye, it was damned stupid of her. I'm a liberal lefty socialist too. And I'm utterly ashamed of her.

Everyone has the right to speak and express what they want to, no matter their political persuasion.

However, they DON'T have the right to choose the consequences.

I believe the expression "Think before you speak." comes to mind.

There's also: 'Treat others how you want to be treated'.

I am a liberal in ideal. The funny thing is that applicability falls apart when humans get involved in either side.

I should make a thread just about that

but yes...I actually admit that I appreciate the comment. I want to be a true liberal. But I get sick watching certain liberals run around screaming for blood while ignoring what crappy things our side has done

is it too much to ask?

I'll defend her right to do what she did but not the fact that she did it and I think CNN was right to fire her. I'll also call out the hypocrisy of the right which they confuse as supporting what Kathy Griffin, oh well.

I'm very far left myself and getting really pissed off at some other so called leftists shenanigans as well.

It appears that you might be subconsciously moving away from your hard-Left ideology then.
I have talked to several people, including my brother in law that consider themselves the same and they thought what she did was perfectly fine.
In fact, a couple of them called for Trump's head themselves. They still have a deep seated anger that Trump won the election and the idea of beheading the President sits pretty good with them.

yeah no

I am not remotely shifted in ideology. :-)

As I said above, the practicality of both sides gets smooshed when humans come together and pretend to be so powerful.

Fact is, as polarizing as this and the last president have been, my ideology (again, save for overdone gun control) moved further left. Now to be fair, I think that practicality calls for either a moderate view, or a swaying/pulsating motion until we find the right answer. Some things require a left push, and some require a right push.

But internally, if I had my utopia, which I am aware does not exist, it would be a place most on the right would hate.

But there is a difference between ideology and practice. Because I would love a union in which we just share. If you need something it should be offered. If someone is disabled, they should just be helped without question by the community. Problem is, we have human feelings such as greed so some people will take advantage of welfare and some people want to take advantage of the legitimate poor.

Are you missing the part, "She's a comedian". Who cares what she says. If you don't like her humor then ignore her.

I don't care what she says...she's a hack "comedian" who is D-roll and pretends to be proud to be D-roll

I'll say again...I think that Trump is horrible....but I think it was vile...I have that right. Call me a snowflake, call me whatever anyone wants...it was vile

The dude with the Rape Melania sign was someone not known...so even lesser than Kathy...but that was vile too

Freedom of speech? sure...and I accept that just as much as I hate what racists say but enlisted to protect their freedom to be pigs. But that still doesn't change the fact that it's ugly. Don't get me wrong, I am not up at night thinking about Kathy Griffin...After this post and the responses, I forgot in seconds...but I still hate the act.

plus....rant forum :-)
