Lest I forget

Lest I forget, the person I am,
While I travel this dark and dreary road.
Drown my sorrows, in the oceans I swim,
While my heart becomes bitter, frigid, cold.

Lest I grow old and my memory fades,
All those moments lost forever more,
And the person that I once portrayed,
Becomes the thing, that I most abhor.

Let me gaze upon my own reflection,
And see me, for the monster, I've become,
Let this be my chance for resurrection,
And to the darkness, let me not succumb.

Before the light fades from my eyes,
And the blades of death penetrate my skin,
Let me see through the illusions, and the lies,
And become the man I admired again.

Lest I forget, that I was so much more,
When I made the wine I now just drink,
A student of life... honest, humble and poor,
But I was so much more back then I think.

Lest I forget, we have always been,
Holding hands in the rain.
Handing black and white love,
For each other, I told you,
In the mirrors, how much I missed,
Loving you, forever we will be,
Holding hands in the sky, loving,
The rain that WE made, the glitter,
That you gave.

Lest I forget, the long rope,
Of time you gave me, the memories,
The earth you planted, with me,
The roads you made, with time,
I loved you until the other, side,
I would always break, your fall,
For the colors. Of the walls you paint,
Our time was the lest I will forget…
