I hear you, OP. It kind of blows my mind that people seem all too eager to eat up the agendas being pushed, on a supposed conspiracy site. The bread and circuses seems so incredibly obvious to me, I often can't comprehend how so many are seemingly oblivious. Divide us by party lines, race, religion, gender ... it's everywhere. It's sad.

I can only hope that more people can see through it all, and stop participating and pushing agendas "they" want you to push. That more people choose to think for themselves, and stop blindly following. Unfortunately it seems people enjoy the fighting, but I'm not playing that game.

It doesn't matter. Nothing we say actually matters.

None of it.

Not a damned thing.

But it is amusing. And it passes the time until we all die.

Bickering like school children everyday is trivial to me. I'm on ATS for some real meat and bones discussion on how to make a change. I don't like to take a defeatist attitude and troll users on the internet.

I prefer informed discussion with resources vs "na na boo boo im better than you"

I've been an Independent most my life. Pretty much ever since when I was young and unable to vote that I identified as a Democrat, yet I was pro gun. Ever since then I dropped the "Democrat" title and make up my own mind on issues, which are mostly logic based (I'm agnostic).

It does confuse me how many people are lock-step in their beliefs, or at least pretend to be in order to be included in some sort of group.

For example, when Obama ran for the Presidency and talked a lot about walking Bush era policies back and increasing transparency, then got into office and immediately expanded on them.. How does one continue to be a Democrat after that? I voted for him the first term because of that, but not the second. That's just one example, I'm not picking on the Democrats. I don't like most/all of what Trump has done either. The only thing he's done so far that I liked, or a result of him getting elected, was the killing of the TPP.

How would one make change on an internet website?

Personally, if one was inclined to make change, they'd be off the computer and doing something instead of talking about doing something.

But that's where we are in society, where "wanting to do something" equates to actually doing it, at least emotionally.

Fair enough, but it doesn't matter what country you live in, if it has a central bank, you are a slave.

I use the banks; I don't let the banks use me.

You do realize that banks and financial institutions don't fall under the term 'In Defence of Unpopular Causes'.

They are using you if you think that or not. As long as you use fiat currency created by a central bank, you are nothing but a number. Every penny you pay in interest for anything further solidifies that you are indeed blind to the truth, and comfortable with the illusion.

I guess everybody likes magic tricks once in awhile, but I've grown tired of the magic trick of printing something from nothing and devaluing the currency.

The internet is nothing more than a venue for discussion. I don't hesitate to tell people my belief IRL if I feel I need to. If people are interested I share information that they can research.

I talk to a lot of people on a daily basis, not always about politics or whatever, but when a conversation drifts into that realm, I'll say what I said here.

Having discussions on the internet lead to new ideas, and people can either choose to try and educate people off the computer or not.. if you want to just bicker about trump and obama, more power to you.. perhaps this isn't a thread for you?

Talking about change is not the same as creating change.

Well, instead of skirting the issue with how you feel, why don't you explain to the users participating in this thread how YOU could enact change. I thought you were turning over a new leaf? It doesn't seem like you are interested in discussing how to make a change, but rather just come on here to "pass the time" as you say. What a waste of a brilliant mind. You are smart, but choose to just troll the internet.. weird.

Hey, whatever spurs discussion, I don't care.. I'm tired of the current threads lately anyway.. I check ATS everyday and I hardly find one or 2 threads worth my time commenting on.

In a few weeks, I'm spending a month in Sierra Leone with an international group to build a hospital.

No left.
No right.
No blogs, not even any internet.

I only "troll" (as you put it) in my spare time.

But if you could get people to understand the true nature of our financial system, it would probably go further to create a positive change more so than anything else.

If people would stop going into debt to finance unneeded purchases - starve the beast

If people saved up for the things they wanted before they purchase (cars, electronics) - starve the beast

If people lived within their means and stopped chasing the almighty material object - starve the beast

If people purchased homes they could actually afford (3x's annual income) - starve the beast

Purchase medical care with cash and ditch insurance - starve the beast

Stop trying to keep up with the neighbors and just be happy with what you have - starve the beast

We citizens could accomplish huge structural changes without even passing a single law. The power is education.

Ok? How is that helping in the US? I'm happy you wish to help somewhere across the world. Why don't you go help the homeless people in your city? Or would that not look good for your status update?

Who says I don't? I just don't see the need to talk about it.

Plus, there's more to this world than just "America".

Except Canada. They don't really exist.

Well if there is no need for you to talk about it, then why are you here trying to derail the thread?

If you would take the chip off your shoulder, you'd find that I'm actually in agreement with you for the most part.

Left, right, doesn't make a difference.

Nothing we SAY, makes a difference.

What we DO, does make a difference.

I don't have a chip on my shoulder. I basically just pointed out that informed discussion to come up with solutions is what we need, not arguing about obama crying about climate change when he flies around in a jet with an entourage, or how trump wants to grab women by the pu##. It gets old dude, so pardon me if I'm sounding like a dick, but I'm over it.
