I know there’s a quite a few Masons on this website…I was just wondering what the Masonic perspective is on entities such as the Djin, “Shadow People” and Demons etc…

How do Masons deal with these types of entities…?

And additionally, do Masons perform exorcisms for demonic possession just like the Catholic Church’s do, or do they treat it in a completely different manner…?

I think Augustus will back me up on this, but my understanding is that seeing as the demons are the ones that Masons make most of their sacrifices to, they generally get along okay.

I think generally in most lodges they view demons as having the poorest table manners.

That's why I always show up for the dinners early, get the farthest seat from them.

You might have got some idea from Denver airport, they used to have the place plastered with their, 'Demonic' art!

Nah, just a member who a) always checks the "new topics" tab first and b) a guy that harasses all the Masons I know whenever I get a chance.

We view them just the same way as you do - with skepticism.

From what I understand Masons are a little concerned with the whole "Demon" thing.

On the one hand they love the fact that they are all pretty powerful and influential but can't reconcile this with the fact that everybody has at least one.

Quite the conundrum.

Do you really think a true Mason would admit demons exist?

Good lord no, ....it's a secret. Shhh.

In reality, demons, black eyed kids, shadow people, unsavory entities in general aren't discussed as part of masonry. Believe it or not, most understand there is enough evil in regular mankind to put the average demon to shame. In fact, in Washington D.C., the demons are the good guys in comparison. (JK)

Masonry has no official stance on the topic. (to my knowledge) The individual is free to believe/dis-believe in whatever they wish, the only stipulation is that we all believe in some form of intelligent creator of all.

You're a "member". Hehe.

As to the OP, no, we don't do exorcisms. But the jinn/demon party/rituals are off the hook! True story!!!

Why not…tons of other religions believe in them…

Plus Masons believe in the teachings of Jesus to some extent, and Jesus believed in Demons, so it kinda makes sense...

Consider yourself backed up, Asmodeus. Did you enjoy the Fricassee L'Enfant I whipped up the other night?

We don't, because they don't exist. They are fictitious.

No, because we are not a religious order, nor do we adhere to a religious following.

Also, because exorcisms are also, fictitious.

At least that's how my lodge perceives them.

EDIT: I suppose I should state that it's my own opinion that they do not exist.. I have yet to see a single shred of evidence that they do. I guess I'm also an ademonist.
