The around 3,000 potential terrorists monitored since 2015 has grown after the return of UK-born people who left to fight with ISIS.

Around 400 ISIS-trained fighters are believed to have returned from war zones in Syria and Iraq.

Despite being on red alert for more attacks on home soil like today's carnage in Westminster, new statistics show the number of arrests, stop and searches, and examinations of suspected terrorists at ports and airports dropped in 2016 on the levels seen in 2015.

In 2016 there were 260 terror-related arrests, a drop of eight per cent on the 282 people held in 2015.

The figures were revealed in a quarterly Home Office report on the use of police powers under the Terrorism Act 2000, which was released this month.

400 UK born people returned after fighting with ISIS? How? What the hell is gong on in the UK?

Why the suicidal policy in the UK? Arrests are down, I wonder if the kid gloves will be taken off after the suicide bomber unleashed a supposed "nail bomb" on crowds leaving a concert.
There has to be a reason liberals want this sort of thing. But for the life of me it escapes me.

We are reaping the aftermath of the softly softly approach regarding all crime in the UK, London for example is fast becoming just like Paris, a crime ridden multicultural soup sh1thole infested with people that hate any authority and the western way of life in general..

Police figures are "doctored" so as to look like crime is falling, certain cultures that demanded "stop and search" by police are curtailed are now seeing copious amounts of young men and child from that community dead from knife crime.

The local born Daesh fighters are just another issue that has people with their head in the sand hoping the problem will simply go away, the bottom line what did anyone think was going to happen when you flood the UK with massive migration policies from countries that have been banana republics for decades???...

People's hands are tied to deal with any of it, trying to deport these low life's simply costs millions where the case is tied up in the court of human rights for years and years... The absurditity is astounding...

Scary and to bad. It is dangerous to ignore the fact that certain parts of the population are not ready or willing to get along with your culture.

Not all cultures in the world are equal or choose to be equal.

Our civilized world we live in has made us soft to the animals that also exist in this world, be it serial murders, terrorist, or cultures who simply cannot move beyond old traditions.

We are not working on integrating these people either, we are just moving them en mass to our pads, and letting them run all willy-nilly.

The people who set our policies are so out of touch with reality, it is beyond reproach.

How bad will it get before it gets better? Depends on how long we let this festering mess sit to ferment and sour.

The left has led us down a path of cultural suicide. None of these Sharia loving animals belong in civilized Western society. The liberal elites though have proven time and time again they'll gladly sacrifice their own people for the retarded dream of open borders.

You have a strange way of looking at things. Ever think that there was less arrests because less people committed a crime?? By your logic you could never win since a decrease in crime simply means they aren't trying hard enough.

I'd like to think this is more to do with intelligence gathering to root out and gain information on networks than incompetence but that might be a bit naive.

TPTB don't care about foreign criminals and terrorists. else they would have destroyed ISIS within weeks.

mass surveilance is really about YOU, the average citizen.

not to prevent crime but to prevent uprising.

Explains facebook, twitter, and other... pushed... social sites..

If you make a site "main" enough people will flock there to feel... included... and popular.

What better way to see what others are thinking, planning.

An uprising would need to be setup the old fashioned way, pubs, bars, and in-home meeting with cell-phones wrapped in aluminum foil.

The disgusting policies of the Department for Work and Pensions in the UK have killed well over 2000 people in the last 10 years.
They have consistently been attacking the sick and disabled and withdrawn all financial support leaving them to die from starvation, neglect and suicide.
They should be declared a terrorist organisation.

Many many people are mad about this but it continues. The media continues to act like unemployed are all lazy.

The money that is wasted on failed anti terrorist policies would be better spent on the poor.
The one biggest problem is fear of being accused of being racist if they actually did something about real terrorism.
That's why so many grooming gangs got away with raping little girls for years.

The EU is partially to blame but the government has a very peculiar and cowardly kind of sickness.
I keep saying that this just pushes people to the far right and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
This election will no doubt produce some interesting results but I really don't think any of the parties have an appetite for real change.

They need to get their priorities right and start working for the people.
I'm not saying that terrorism is not an issue but if the government have, themselves, killed so many people, what makes you think they care if a few more get killed?

The invasion in Europe by extremist is not about looking for a better way of life, but to invade and conquer.

Based upon the OP and your comment, the only conclusion I can draw is that the UK government really doesn't care a whole lot about civilian casualties.

Don't know why but based upon what I see in the US, I'm not terribly surprised.

You are right. Our government does not care one tiny bit.
Their point of view is that dead people don't need to be looked after and nor do they vote.
Doesn't matter to them how people die as long as the population goes down.
