I've been married 18 years, and I have NEVER swatted away my husband's hand if he reached it out to me. He's not really a big hand-holder, so whenever he does, I am happy to oblige.

you are 50% correct, but the 'Decorum' issue arises...

it would be totally inappropriate for them to show affection to such a degree in the situation they were in. So the holding of hands would be a taboo in the presence of all the officials present...

not to mention that the red carpet was not wide enough for the 4-of-them-abreast

As most people know, I'm not a Trump supporter by any means (inb4 Hillary - I supported Bernie). I do have to say, though, that this is ridiculous. Sure she bumped his hand away but it really was nothing to get all upset about. It looked more like she was saying "That's not proper in public" or something like that.
