Don't get me wrong; I think it's hilarious and awesome Trump didn't bow to him...
But I think we all know why Obama did and Trump didn't. Obama actually listens to briefings and researches a thing he's about to confront. Trump, on the other hand, has said repeatedly that he doesn't listen and that he's discovered the most elementary of foundations long after he's neck deep in a situation.
He probably just didn't even know it was a thing.
In Europe, one bows to royalty. It ranges from a simple court bow (head only) to a full right angle bow at the waist depending on rank and circumstances, but it is always a bow. In Arabia, depending on country, one may kiss the hand, the shoulder or even the nose of a prince, but it is always a kiss, never a bow.
Bowing in Islamic culture is almost entirely reserved for prayer. Muslims are instructed not to bow to any human regardless of authority -- even Muhammad would not allow people to bow to him. Bowing in reverence to another human is considered "shirk," which is a very serious sin in Islam.
..
Bowing to Humans is Shirk
A fatwa, or non-binding religious ruling, by the late but esteemed Saudi cleric Abdullah Ibn Jibreen states plainly that bowing to a human, in most circumstances, is "shirk" -- a grave sin in Islam that means, in this case, to worship someone other than Allah. Allah alone is considered worthy of the type of reverence bowing indicates.

I don't have a good reason to post this thread other than perhaps there is a difference in confidence between our or current and previous pres.
www.theamericanmirror.com...
What a difference an election can make for the respect American leaders have for our country.
There were two very different outcomes when two American presidents greeted the king of Saudi Arabia.
Trump meeting the King of Saudi Arabia, respectful and confident.
Barack Obama meeting the Saudi King, the bow seems over done and perhaps doting.
I think this may be a difference in how these 2 guys deal with people and leaders. One seems to be overly concerned about offending them and the other is respectful but firm.
And like it or not, body language is a huge thing when we live in suck a publicized world.

Appreciating Arab Etiquette And Attitudes
Disgraceful, what did the king ever do to you or your country? Why are you people so nasty and evil..I mean like, what are you all, little demons or something? It's like your type of people just do not fit in the plans of what's holy and good on and for this earth. It's really obvious why the world hates people that act like your type,it's sad and un human to the world of peace.

Daaaamn, you schooled me on that one. In that case, they both fail at it.
I'll give the Saudi greeting award to Trump.
But I think it would have been better if he just kicked the king in the balls.
I just might have cheered for Trump if he did.
