China has always been about expansion..NK is just a small country trying to be big in the world led by your run of the mill Tyrant.Targets for NK would be SK and Japan..Knocking out US bases nearby will leave them a slower response time..Russia will drag their heels to do anything.China will most likely take advantage of the situation and invade south probably as south as Vietnam.
The new missile is obviously a Carrier killer to keep the US fleets at bay.

Russia and China have already responded by sending troops and air defence system.

Russia have sent trainloads of air defence systems to Rtem not far from the Northern NK Boarder. But that was about 3 months ago. These systems could be sent into NK to help boost NK air defence capability.

My take on this is that Russia will give NK these systems.

Russia already have Anti ship systems, Pantsyr S1, S300 and S400 systems in Place that can protect and monitor the Sea Of Japan from Russian soil. These were stationed along the sea of japan do to NK doing missile tests over the Sea Of Japan.

I thought that China and Russia are ahead of the US in missile tech. Especially in the hypersonic arena.

Would hypersonic ship killer missiles be detectable in time? How large of a threat would they be?

Sorry for going slightly OT...

Yes and no. No one has broken the missile barrier, although the Bhramos (Russia/India) is close to test flights. Russia and China do both have a boost glide weapon in development/testing though.

PR speak is cheap....I remember when the Phoenix was THE next best thing to sliced bread in regard to missile tech ..In operations ...not so much so..
