White privillege is a myth and i wonder why people push it so hard right now. This feels like a sinister scheme but the endgame is still a little bit unclear to me.

Did Philly tax the diet drinks as well?
If not maybe fat people switched to the cheaper aspartame options?
That could easily make a difference in comparison.

Am I reading this right? The soda tax is meant to even up disparity in education, but if there is any inkling of minorities having to fund it then they have to alter it so white people have to pay?

Why stop at diet soda?
1) Throw a big tax on hockey game tickets
2) Impose a levy on golf Green Fees
3) Tax the heck out of Wienerschnitzel and Steak & Kidney Pie
No, no, you guys have got it all wrong! Tax sun screen! The higher the SPF, the higher the tax! Also, tanning creams and especially tanning salons!

as of 2012, 29,000,000 Americans had diabetes....it's not a right/left thing, it's a health thing, the CDC says that by 2050, 50% of Americans will be diabetic.....yeah, no problem with that, right?
According to your logic we should levy a tax on fried chicken

This is absolutely brilliant.
We should bring it up at the next San Francisco city council meeting...would probably pass unanimously!

Bit harsh fella.
It's more likely just city hall thinking up a bull# PC argument to raise more taxes.
Quite clever really as the middle class whites probably won't kick off about it.
Maybe an angry tweet or email at best lol

Oh I get the simple economics, I'm just thinking from the slant of soda addicts compared to alcohol in the UK.
Here the government usually increase tax on booze every year, but sales increase each year.
I'm genuinely surprised that soda addicts bought 30% less, I wouldn't have been surprised if the tax had been on say cabbages.

It will fall flat. I live in a Phila, PA suburb and the lib Philly mayor instituted a soda tax. The taxes he was hoping to generate thus far have fallen short, as most city residents who live near the suburbs do their grocery shopping outside the city and buy their soda there. And don't even get me started on his policy of declaring Philly a sanctuary city for illegals.
