Leaked Draft of Trump’s Religious Freedom Order Reveals Sweeping Plans to Legalize Discrimination

If signed, the order would create wholesale exemptions for people and organizations who claim religious objections to same-sex marriage, premarital sex, abortion, and trans identity.

The four-page draft order, a copy of which is currently circulating among federal staff and advocacy organizations, construes religious organizations so broadly that it covers “any organization, including closely held for-profit corporations,” and protects “religious freedom” in every walk of life: “when providing social services, education, or healthcare; earning a living, seeking a job, or employing others; receiving government grants or contracts; or otherwise participating in the marketplace, the public square, or interfacing with Federal, State or local governments.”

I think we knew this was coming, just a matter of time. Apparently Jared and Ivanka want to make some changes.

I guess it's time to register as a religious organization for obvious reason.

Great thread!

Do people have a right to discriminate is an interesting question.

Should people should have a right to choose to discriminate against gay people?

The draft order seeks to create wholesale exemptions for people and organizations who claim religious or moral objections to same-sex marriage, premarital sex, abortion, and trans identity, and it seeks to curtail women’s access to contraception and abortion through the Affordable Care Act.

Does a grocery store owner have the right to deny selling someone food if they have moral objection? Can a hospital refuse to give emergency medical treatment because of moral objectives?

Is okay to yell "fire' in crowded theater if a gay sex scene comes up in a movie? How much does someone's rights become extended by moral implications?

I would sign it. The pendulum is swinging back to the right, and I love it barely to the right of center.

Any such order would be promptly eviscerated as the trash it is by the first judge to hear a challenge. Such a wide sweeping "let's all be racist, xenophobic garbage, because it's fun" order would set the country back decades and make America an even bigger embarrassment under this moronic asshat. The he could talk about how Benjamin Franklin wasn't happy about WWII, and would have stopped it, because, you know, he's that effing ignorant of everything.

I realize the options were terrible, but people should be ashamed of having voted for this piece of human excrement.

How did I know that people would take this as for out of context as possible?

I am not very religious, but some people are.
Government should not be able to tell a private business owner who and who not to sell or provide services to.
If the business owner feels they are doing a dis-service to themselves or to the god they fear, they should have the right to refuse.

People forget, that its NOT ALWAYS ABOUT THEM
In most cases, the people "discriminating" are worried about themselves, not the gay couple that wants them to bake a cake for their wedding.

They don't want to be less in gods eye for being involved in something they feel is against gods wishes.

Change is only good if it's pissing on historical traditions and customs and labeling everyone an intolerant racist as they go.

That's why this 'draft to change sh!t' will not be accepted by radical lib extremists - Jesus looks good.

nice 50s attitude.

we dont serve trans people = we dont serve gay people, or we dont serve men/women. we dont serve blacks.
Gender dysphoria happens to a (small) section of the population. Yes, there are transtrenders now, the whole 83 genders thing, etc, but there are a core that is legit and this is basically saying its cool to not serve them (any business, church, restaurant, hospital, etc) because you dont like how they were born.

This is ammo for the jackass antifa movement. Expect if this is a thing and it passes, their numbers to swell to a full blown movement with a endless supply of numbers due to suddenly having legit arguments outside of just not liking the election results.

Problem? yeah, there is gonna be a giant one from what I see...not to mention going to such an extreme will mean in 2020 a overcompensation will happen in the other direction.

Never had premarital sex then I take it?
historical traditions hold a lot of bad stuff. slavery, discrimination, locking up people for what adult they have sex with, etc. its good to destroy a lot of old traditions that were based small wiener mindsets.

The "nothing to see here, move along folks," have assured us just that - there's nothing to see here.

You know, for a conspiracy forum, there really isn't a whole lot of discussion about conspiracies anymore. It's mainly partisan diatribe, methinks there's a reason for that.

When people say that there's nothing to worry about with this?

There's something to worry about.

"Anti-establishment."
"Represents the American populace."
