MBDA wins contract to integrate Meteor air-to-air missile on United Kingdom F-35 strike fighters

Cool to see how our UK partners are adapting their tech to the F-35.

Looks like the UK F-35 is getting the Meteor.

U.S. and other allied military leaders likely will be watching this project with interest, as the Meteor missile is considered to be one of the best long-range air-to-air missiles in the world, and could be superior to the U.S. AMRAAM missile.
MBDA will perform production and engineering work required to support Meteor’s compatibility and use from the F-35, and will provide the usual suite of test missiles required for an aircraft integration program.
The Meteor is a ramjet-powered missile that is designed to provide an all-weather capability that can engage a wide variety of targets, including agile fast jets, small unmanned aerial vehicles, and cruise missiles.

MBDA is a European developer and manufacturer of missiles. It was formed by a merger of French Aérospatiale-Matra Missiles, Italian Alenia Marconi Systems and British Matra BAe Dynamics in December 2001.

Quite a resume of companies to pool resources..

We did the same with the AH-64. It's always cool to see our technologies combined.
