Just another Aircraft Nerd

Hi gang! I've always been a huge aircraft and spacecraft fan since I can remember. The first model I built was an X-15. As a child, I loved reading stories about Neil Armstrong's and Scott Crossfield's flights to the edge of space. It was that program and subsequent others that prompted me to join the US Air Force soon after graduating high school to become a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist (Crew Chief). After spending 8 years at several A-10 bases, I made my home at Edwards AFB working in back shops. I still look up at the sky every time I hear a plane flying overhead after spending almost 30 years in the industry. I've been a fan of Zaphod and the two Boomers since the first time I read their posts in the Military and Aircraft Projects forums. Those guys are the best! I make it a habit of going out the the desert, which is just a few blocks from my house, and stare up at the night sky. I've seen a lot of interesting things flying around and with everything I've read here and other places, I know I'll be seeing a lot more. If you're into new technologies, the Antelope Valley is where all cool stuff comes out to play!

The A-10 is much beloved here on ATS. Seems we've had several threads of its demise now! She's till flying.

I always hated taking JOAP samples off those things. You don't realize how high they are until you're up there.
