I ' ve always thought the book called The Secret was a dangerous message..and the acquaintance who tried to convince me otherwise ended up losing his marraige and his home. 😕

It is far wiser to humbly pray to God to give you what you are most in need of and trust that He will. Often humans attach their happiness to relationships that will make them unhappy over time.. or material possessions that lose their satisfaction over time.

I'm grateful you learned this wisdom OP and feel God will bless you for being honest about your mistake.

I don't think he was punished for believing in it..but it just proves that it was trumped up BS to me. As soon as I saw the cover of that book though a chill ran through me.. and try as he might this acquaintance could not convince me to read it. He seemed angry I wouldn't .. even though I never got angry with him for not believing in Jesus or reading the bible.🤷🏻‍♀️ Go figure 🤔

It's not a new idea. Wallace Wattles, Napoleon Hill, Prentice Mulford all wrote about it way back at the end of the nineteenth century. They didn't call it the law of attraction.

It doesn't take away from God or the bible teachings. It confirms them.

I felt the book was from the Luciferian " enlightenment " camp... though Luciferian name is not attached to it .

Jesus warns us in the bible that Lucifer will reveal himself as an angel of light to many and those that are NOT with Jesus are essentially against Him in His role for salvation of this world.

The book I TRUST and the Holy Trinity I trust are the reasons I did and do not care for this " enlightenment" indoctrination . The end 🙂

I hate to say it, but that stuff worked.

Maybe it was a test from God

Or some demons helped get it for me to mislead me.

If its the former, I failed the test, and if its the latter I was mislead.

God is subtle. It only appears as if God does nothing. But God can reward or punish people, in this life or the hereafter.

I'm just glad I was punished in this life and given a wake up call.

I'll take that any day over getting what I want in this life and being punished in the afterlife.

"Law of attraction" is ultimately a form of magic. It worked for me for sometime. Had God not intervened I would have probably been living a different life and would not have been the person I am today.

I may have had the good life, but i would have been in trouble with God.

Because I was dealing with the "universe" as a an entity that could grant me what I wanted. I was relying on God's creation instead of God Himself.

I have learned my lesson.

Mark 11:24

" Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours"

Sounds like it is a tool of God to me...........

Matthew 7:7

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

The difference in being that Jesus said He had the power to give.

Those words were not about praying to the universe 🤔 but I can see how you could see it as such.

I do believe in God, but not a God of any one man; a God of all mankind.

What if that which we desire, right now in this moment, is attainable?
What if all we needed was faith?

I believe the universe to be a machine designed to grant us our wishes. You used it correctly until you used it against yourself. You said you felt guilty and therefore your reality became what you desired in your doubt and unbelief. You punished yourself.

I don't believe God is out there with a stick, waiting with bated breath to smack his children. We've been given the responsibility to experience this reality. We've been given the tools to make of this reality what we wish. The unbelievable part is, THIS is what we've created. All of THIS. Only when we take responsibility for ALL of it, will we begin to understand Gods plan; will we begin to know true happiness again.

I believe mankinds ability to see meaning in the unseen, to be his greatest gift and his greatest folly. It's so easy for us to see out of one eye and then blind the other, to avoid a twig only to run headlong into a boulder.

I could liken your experience to a child experiencing fire for the first time. He accidentally burns down his house, losing his entire family. He decides fire is evil and never touches it again. Understanding the cause and effect of this relative reality, is not the same as knowing Gods affinity for infinity.

We are children in a playground blaming our parents for the sand.

Exactly. The whole premis of the law of attraction and the whole Universal Law thing is belief and gratitude. It works on emotions and your emotions were of guilt and feeling dirty. You felt you didn't deserve the things you received being too hooked up on the religious side of your belief. You created a total contradiction

I've used the Universal Laws myself. It works right up until the moment you believe its too good to be true or you don't deserve what's happening, and then bingo it all goes to poop!

Jesus was a great example of a "new ager" as you call them, he knew how the universe worked and knew that it was possible to change your current reality. You should remember that these laws were created by God in the first place to create harmony peace and abundance!
