Yep. Something the entire western world should be used to by now. A big fat lie. MSNBC played footage of protests in Venezuela while Maddow added her narrative that " the people are protesting the government over it's donations to Donald Trump's campaign."

When in actuality:
"Hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans took to the streets to protest the government of President Nicolás Maduro as the country marked its 207th anniversary of the revolution that led to its independence from Spain."

The story gets even better when you consider that the very same news organization ( NBC News ) was the source of the above quote.

I wasn't aware Maddow was a Rhodes scholar, but that just adds to the absurdity of reports like these. IMHO its one thing to try to suggest anti-Trump sentiment is a worldwide epidemic through irresponsible reporting. However at what point does it become an act of war? Perjury done with the intent of instigating trouble. Great job Rachel. Today's "journalism" at it's finest.

Hopefully soon, Maddow will join O'Reilly in the unemployment line.

I'm sure she'd fit many descriptions of male attackers too.

this is outrageous, this is such a disservice to Venezuela, they protest cause they are #ing STARVING! their government corruption has reached such outrageous levels there isnt even food left in the stores for them because of it, so they protest to help bring awareness and one of the largest media conglomerates in the world decides to spin their reason into a partisan bull#.

this is #ing outrageous.

can you even imagine being in that position? starving begging for food from those who STOLE it from you only to be told by them you're just upset cause you dont like the leader of a totally different country that has nothing to do with you and your issues.

Let us see if any of our "Progressive" members come along to tell us this is not so.

There are lots of problems with the corrupt government of Venezuela. People are upset because they are starving.

She didn't say the Trump donations were the onlyreason people were protesting. She said it was one more new problem with money going elsewhere that's supposed to be for the people. Do you not think the starving people of Venezuela should be upset that half a million of their much-needed dollars went to Trump? Do you think they really aren't very upset about all that money going elsewhere that could be going towards feeding their children?

Lol

I mean, I'm sure some of them weren't happy about how much money was donated to the Trump Inauguration, but to say that's why they were protesting?

Lol

That's just pathetic.

Did you watch the video in the link? I'm sure the Venezuelan people aren't happy about the campaign contribution, but Maddow took it upon herself to really exploit this and promote this with personal enthusiasm. As per her standard, she compared pictures of the Obama inauguration and added in sighs and facial expressions to alienate opposing views.

But I suppose the bigger question is: Do you think Maddow or MSNBC actually gives a F%×& about the people of Venezuela?

I feel assaulted every time I hear her talk...does that count? She just needs one time to use the word "Hot Chocoholic" since that seems to be a good trigger word for getting fired...

It was definitely a spin - I wouldn't call it a lie. All of the cable news put spin on their stories. All of them. Fox is just as bad.

I think Maddow cares about Venezuela more than the average Joe America.

Why are people starving in a luscious and oil rich country like Venezuela? Could it be their Government is so screwed up that they failed at every turn? I think they have a lot more to protest about don't you? The donation might have been the one good thing they have ever done in it may open the way for support and 100s of millions in aid if they actually got on track again with the rest of the world.

Sure they have a lot to protest about. But when your 3-year-old is starving TODAY, you might get pissed that money is flowing out. You don't really care about down the road, because down the road, your 3-year-old is dead.

And since when should a country have to pay money to get disaster assistance?

I strongly disagree with that last sentence. Maddow's platform has the power to give a voice to the oppressed Venezuelans. She could've talked about the Democratic Unity Roundtable, or the food and medicine shortages, but she didn't. Instead, she chose not to represent them, but rather use their struggle to advance her petty partisan rhetoric.

Pathetic.

Yah, great. Bad enough shes on the air main stream , we gotta bring her here too.

I get it though, except thats like preaching to the choir about the evils of the MSM.

Everyone do an experiment, force yourself to go without main stream news for say two weeks (your mileage may vary).

After that turn on top of the hour news at prime time 6 pm (doesn't matter which outlet as long as its main stream). Then channel hop between the majors.

The magic spell will be broken, their dogma will be easy to spot, you'll never look at Main stream news the same way again.

(Drops idiot cards)

And how is Maddow any different than anyone else on cable news? Why concentrate on her and MSNBC? It couldn't be a partisan reason, could it?

It was an outright lie.

The caption point blank says the unrest is Trump's fault.
