NYT election reporters are now saying Ossoff will not get to 50%, but are expecting only 48%-48.5%.

This means there will be a runoff election in June between Jon Ossoff and Karen Handel.

LIVE RESULTS:

Ossoff's attrition should probably slow down a bit now that so much of Cobb County is in, but still tracking toward a 48/48.5 type finish

Democrats have been pouring millions of dollars of out-of-state money into this special election to capture the vacated seat from Republicans, in order to use it as a referendum on Trump, as well as to use as a positive harbinger for Democrats seeking to capture congressional seats in the next election cycle.

Ossoff, the Democrat, needed 50% of vote the to win. He is no longer expected to reach that number.

A runoff in June against the Republican runner up will most likely be a loss for him...as the election will then be one-on-one...instead of against the 4 Republicans currently dividing the Republican vote.

Well this is Georgia we're talking about. I'm surprised he got that much.

11 Republican candidates (4 serious) were dividing the Republican vote.

There appears to be a major push by the DNC to take Georgia from the Republicans. What they fail to realize is that, while Atlanta does lean left, the rest of the state still leans hard right. And like in most of the country, the left screams loudest while right quietly votes.

Ossoff has a chance since the 6th District includes many suburbs of Atlanta, especially with all the outside money pouring in, but it's a slim one. Even around Atlanta, folks seem to have a problem with the tactics that have been used against Trump since his campaign.

Here's hoping the prediction is right and there's a runoff.

Ossoff at 50.1% with pretty much all of DeKalb in. He is only slightly outperforming Clinton who only took about 47% of the district overall.

Don't forget people Ossoff ran for a seat in a district he doesn't even live in.

Democrats still cheating by any means necessary.

Trump took Fulton with a narrow margin. Narrowest of the three.

Is NYT the paper that had a Hillary Speedometer widget, showing her at 90% odds of winning, even at 7pm on November 6, 2016?

I don't think anyone fails to realize that Georgia is solid red outside Atlanta. Dems saw a shot worth taking so they did. They lose only money for their effort.

It is, but I'm watching HotAir's update thread live.

It looks like neither side feel particularly strong about this, but the left twitverse has shifted to moral victory mode.

??? RUSSIAN Tampering ???

""Key electronic voter logs used in the Georgia special election to fill a vacant Congressional seat were swiped from the pickup truck of a poll worker during a grocery run, according to a police report obtained by Fox News.

The theft of early voting check-in books has raised the specter of fraud in the hotly contested race to fill the state's sixth district seat left open when Tom Price was named Health and Human Services secretary.

Tuesday is election day, but thousands of voters took part in early voting.""
