Did you know that Coke and Pepsi are used as cheap pesticides in India? You do now.... Interesting article with a lot of good information.

Farmers In India Use Coca-Cola And Pepsi As A Cheaper Alternative To Pesticides:

www.blacklistednews.com...

The Center for Science and Environment (CSE), which is one of India's leading voluntary agencies, claims that the soft drinks produced in India, including those with the brand names Pepsi and Coca-Cola, contain extremely high levels of pesticide residues, and due to this, farmers use them to fight pests as they are cheaper than the conventional pesticides.

I've used to add sugar to flowers.

It might be the stickiness.

That discourages the pests.

I guess we can expect to see in the near future Monsanto merging with Pepsi/Coke?

So glad I quit drinking soda years ago.....

At least Pepsi and Coca Cola are more edible than pesticides, and this coming from someone who doesn't drink a lot of soda.

Are you in India?

Most bottlers use the local water so I should be safe in Perth drinking my Pepsi

Yes, correct.. .the ground water is highly contaminated.

Don't drink the canned soft drinks in India... or originating from India... kind of like you don't eat Chinese sourced melamine foods.

In that case Mexican Coke should be a good laxative.

Here in America, if I put an open can of Coke or Pepsi outside on a sunny summer day, there are usually a lot of insects attracted to it.
They feed on it.
Very few die.
Pesticide fail.

Pick your poison they said...

Doesnt make a difference when most populations drink the toxic cokes freely.

Yuck. I havent had a carbonated drink since 2010.

I don't drink soft drinks. But this I gotta see for myself if it works. I have an organic garden ans sometimes bugs get more food than I do. This will be interesting.

I don't think you read the article at all. These are drinks canned in India and they contain high levels of pesticide residue due to contaminated water sources.

Interesting, so the same farmers who mismanaged their pesticide usage, are now saving money by buying coke instead of buying pesticides that they used too much of in the first place..
