Three weeks ago, I lost my father suddenly to a heart attack. It's been pretty rough dealing with him being gone and all that goes with it like his bills, property, assets, etc. I've been pretty down and we took a family vacation in Florida this past week which was great for everyone. We came back yesterday to find that our beloved dog, Maggie was not doing well at all. At 17 years old, she had been declining in health the last few months. Today, I had to take her to be euthanized. It was much harder than I thought it would be and though I know it was the best thing to do, I still feel horrible.

Bottom line, other than the family vacation, this year has sucked for us so far. I just wanted to ask for some positive vibes, prayers, thoughts, etc, directed our way.

I am trying hard to stay positive but every little bit helps, right?

Here is a pic of Maggie or Margaret as she was known in her later years.

Best wishes for a quick turnaround to your year, partner. I don't envy you but as Eric Draven said: it can't rain all the time.

(Love the pup and your avatar has always been a favorite of mine!)

Sometimes, life really reaches up and grabs you where it hurts the most. That's when you have to really dig in and start to endure. It sucks when it happens and I feel for you. I will be praying nothing but the best for you and yours to ease your way for the rest of this year.

Time to re-arrange all the furniture, and get a new puppy. Maybe get a kitten at the same tine too. Boy kittens are the ultimate riot, girls are lovey dolls. And start learning about something epic you never much messed with before.

I sincerely hope the reflections of all the good times spent with your loved ones shines through in these times of grieving...

The thankfulness you carry for the small things in life will prove to carry you strong through testing times!

Thanks! I'm coming up on 5 years with the same avatar and have thought of changing it but can't think of anything better. It was the first "ghost" pic that truly freaked me out and got me interested in the paranormal when I was about 12-13 years old.

I feel for you brother...I really do. Losing a father and a family pet in such close proximity is hard to fathom. I can share something that has helped me during life's challenges for what it is worth.

Nietzsche was my favorite philosopher for sometime and one of his more popular life philosophies is, "That which does not kill me only makes me stronger".

I found it made me more resilient during some tough emotional times. I found it helped me to control that emotion and channel it into something positive. It genuinely made me a stronger man. Hopefully you will find your way through this tough time and come out the other side stronger.

Grief is the price we pay for love. It sucks and it never goes away, but it reduces with time. Losing a parent is especially difficult. In times like this I try to focus on being strong for others, somehow it allows the dust to settle a bit.

Obviously nothing compares to losing your dad, but I've had to put one of my dogs down too. It was really unexpected, she'd become riddled with cancer seemingly overnight. I sat in the room with while it was being done. I honestly believe she knew what was going on. She was so calm and just stared into my eyes until she was gone.

Prayers and positive thoughts are with you and your family. Stay strong and know your dad is in a far better place than you or I .

You should do some exercise. Tire yourself out and take a hot shower. Then mix some organic tart cherry juice (its full of natural melatonin) in a big glass of wine or two (to gladden the heart), drink it while listening to some Pink Floyd, then go to sleep. Sleep in the next day, you'll feel much better when you wake up.

Life can really suck sometimes. Rest is probably the best medicine for me.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your father and your dog. While death is a natural part of life, we still miss those we wish we're still on "this side" with us. It's hard.

Tomorrow the sun will rise and your possibilities are open and endless. I believe you will see your father and beloved dog again one day, but for now the Lord still has work for you to do here.

Hang in there ... 2017 is only 33% over. Still time for plenty of awesome.

Sending up prayers and sending you good thoughts.

I have an analogy that was given to me a long time ago. It may not really make any sense because it's really hard to translate to English.

We are all plants, living things. The sun and the good times grow our flowers, our fruit and our stalks. That's what others see, that's how we grow. That is our soul.

The dark times grow our roots, the part of us that draws from below so we can live through the barren times. That is our body.

It's a balance. Having both in our lives make us stronger for our children, our seed. It makes us alive.

I'm sorry about your loss and it touched me. But life is light and dark. How we grow through it is what defines us.

((Hugs))

I am sorry for your losses.

When it's time, take whatever time you need to do something that brings you pure joy.

Your soul will tell you when it's time.

Until then, hugs and good vibes to you and your family.

It's difficult to lose a parent or someone you love. Losing a beloved pet can also be heart wrenching. I know replacing your beloved dog is a tough thing, but maybe finding a new pup now will help divert your attention from the misery you're experiencing at this time in your life. As you already know, a new puppy can be a tremendous comfort when you're down.

Sending you out positive vibes.
