While the US congress is busy trying to revive the Red Scare of the 1950's, and the UK just formally served the EU with divorce papers, Venezuela's version of Emperor Palpatine just dissolved the Galactic Senate.

Here is a Reuters article:
Venezuela's Maduro decried as 'dictator' after Congress annulled

And Zero Hedge's analysis:
Venezuela Bonds Crash As Political Situation Turns "Explosive"

Venezuela's Supreme Court, which has apparently been regularly overturning the legislature's decisions recently, officially annulled the legislature on Wednesday. This means that, for all practical purposes, President Maduro has unlimited power. His own Attorney General has since turned against him, and opposition leaders are now openly asking the military to overthrow the government.

If you thought the situation in Venezuela was bad before, it's about to get much, much worse

It's such a shame. I really loved Hugo Chavez in the beginning and Venezuela always was my dream destination and now... it breaks my heart how the people there have to suffer.

Probably pisses off Russia and China. They underwrote a large bond offering a few months ago.

Of course, no one here is paying attention. It would mean witnessing the end stages of socialism/communism in action. Pay attention, this is where it always heads. The government is incompetent to run everything.

This stuff is maddening, the people are starving, no is around to help. And yet vast wealth is in the country.

with 10,000 tons of gold reserves / 80,000,000,000 barrels of oil reserves/10,000,000 tons of coal reserves/5,200,000 tons of bauxite / and a lot of potential fresh water that sells at 4$ a gallon.

Something tells me that this is engineered so somebody can swoop in and make a lot of money....

Not sure if our US Congress really knows what it is doing. If the Dems would stop pretending that Russia subverted our election - maybe we could concentrate on more important matters.

Also, anyone could tell this trainwreck was coming in VZ. Started chugging along the day VZ elected Chavez.

Socialism....the better idea eh?
You can only give the entire country free sh*t for so long before everyone else's money runs out.

What I did read was that the business classes turned off the money and the problems stemmed from that.

I have a friend in Caracas......or he was in Caracas......part of the wealthy elite.

They left......along with the business class. I guess what's left is the peasants and the army. And we know how that turns out.......this guy will probably be toppled by a Military Junta and voila! You gotta third world Banana Republic, without the neat merchandise.

Yeah, set up. This is most probably manipulation. There were a lot of problems during Chavez, especially the last 5 years of his presidency, alot of big money players were calling in markers. Some of it was CIA related, go figure, RegimeChange Inc. I presume Chavez didn't want play the CIA's ball with the "coca road" from Columbia to Maracaibo. I don't know if the CIA wasn't paying him enough, or at all or if the ops were just bypassing everyone to move product, that kind of info was unavailable. I do remember well, that back in 2005 there was a contract offering for mercs at 300k per 6 month tour with a 50k perk per unhappy ending. One could make a million a year easy, with less than one kill per month. Chavez had a real hardon against the CIA from what I have been told.

Of course it is conceivable that these problems have followed the present government. Every time they did a dirty deal, they left themselves open to more extortion and corruption. All the CIA needed to do was keep records for their masters in international banking. I think we are going to see a capitulation of the government followed by a brief period of prosperity, then rampant inflation and resource confiscation.

Cheers - Dave

I have been posting about this for more than a year now,

www.abovetopsecret.com...

But even to me is strange, the regime always knew how to be a dictatorship while maintaining appearances now they went full retard at a point when they were ok, perhaps they completely ran out of money and want to blame the collapse to external interference or something.

The supreme court not only will make laws, they also striped congressmen of the immunity they always had by constitutional right, and gave special powers to maduro so he can exit American state organization and suspend elections among other things.

Even more this crapfest in my country may help the opposition candidate in Ecuador win the election this weekend, usually the Chavistas coordinate their scandal timing to minimise repercussions but now was completely out of nowhere with zero fs given.

the army is still having a blast with the corruption and drug trafficking so I espect Maduro to survive, for now this will only have international repercussions for the country.

I feel for the innocent... but it is a perfect example to me of why a government cannot be all things to all people, it will inevitably fail.

Yes I am aware this could be orchestrated by several different groups outside the country, it so it is showing an inherent weakness inside the country.

The more you lean on 1 support to stand... the easier it is to end up on the ground.

And it's the JUDGES, so beloved by the left, that overruled the will of the ELECTED Venezuelan representatives.

Similar to what the unelected judges have started to do in the US
