Another off of the radar series that ATS may enjoy while waiting for 'Stranger Things' is 'The Kettering Incident'. It's Australian. I binged it in one night.

8 episodes of epic interdimensional monster hunting with an incredible intense Winona Ryder. A Netflix Original set in the 80's and it's almost perfection. The mood, the cast, the story: it's just brilliant.

ETA: There are 8 episodes for season 1 of Kettering.
No 'official' word yet, it seems likely but is not scheduled for 2017 yet, sadly.

We are extremely excited for our line up in 2017 but regrettably we are unable to confirm if we will be airing a second season of The Kettering Incident or Secret City at this stage.” Although, as fans quickly pointed out, this could indicate that Season 2 of The Kettering Incident would not appear in 2017, but might air at some point after that date.

Now, a Facebook page dedicated to The Kettering Incident has revealed that it is very likely The Kettering Incident will return for Season 2, even if it can’t confirm when. When sharing an article about the show being released on Amazon Prime in the U.S., the official Facebook page noted that the article was “great but he’s wrong about S2 being unlikely.”

According to Wikipedia, Netflix renewed the series for a second season of nine episodes, which is set to be released on October 31, 2017.

Since so many people I know loved the original, I think I will have a Halloween - Strangers Things - party.

It should be the prefect atmosphere for it, since I live in the woods in the middle of nowhere.
