Sorry to disappoint you.

The kind of man you are describing grew up being the Geek in the class, shunned by most except for other Geek friends. Even though some, not all, grow into looking pretty nice they are still insecure about themselves in social situations. Your "unique smart-assery" is what their nightmares from high school are made of.

Imho, and this is speaking from experience, all Geeks are amazing and unique. You just need to look past their looks and see who they really are. Cheer them on helping with insights and encouraging their efforts 'cause they are wonderful people. You'll find that most are very sincere and wear their heart on their sleeve. I love Geeks.

Watch for the guy who is in the corner of the room hoping someone will speak with him and his friends.
