You can argue that the system should not exist, and I would agree with you. You can argue that it is unconstitutional to possess or operate such a system, and I would be behind you one hundred percent. But if you try to insinuate that the Obama administration or any part of his staff had anything to do with its being directed to do what has been done toward Mr Trump, I would have to direct you to the guts of the NSA, CIA and for that matter the entire rest of the Five Eyes intelligence network, and explain to you that the intelligence agencies of the Western Developed world only answer to the elected officials of their respective countries, in the same way that our Prime Minister answers to the electorate. That is, she does not, despite it being a central pillar of our democracy that she ought to.

In summary, Obama, his administration, his dry cleaner and his favourite concierge have NOTHING to do with whether or not Mr Trump has had, is having, or will have his phone calls, e-mails, paper mail, his every electronic whine monitored. These things operate at a pay grade well above that of mere Presidents, without their ability to control them one iota.

I agree with everything you said in that due to Snowden, that currently it's a foregone conclusion that everyone's info is being stored in a database to be extracted at a whim. However, since you seem somewhat well read on the topic, why do you ignore the fact that Obama has administered the biggest expansion and most intrusive surveillance program in modern history? Not only that, he actually used and abused the same system for his benefit and loosened laws relating to the acquisition and dissemination of the same type of personal classified material of US citizens only a few weeks before he left office. Why not his first year or any of the last 8? There's no ulterior motive nothing to see here, it has nothing to do with Obama. I don't think so.
