James Comey Debunks Fake News

If certain members still haven’t figured it out, the media lies to you. They expect you to believe what is expressed to the masses without question, preying on your ignorance and lack of motivation to discern the truth.

Interestingly enough, James Comey had this to say about what passes off as "evidence" nowadays. Headlines and hearsay can unfortunately persuade public opinion. Without the facts, we all have nothing.

COMEY: I think those programs are vital and leaks of information collected pursuant to court order under those programs are terrible. And as I said in my opening statement should be taken very, very seriously.

What I don't ever want to do is compound what bad people have done and confirm something that's in the newspaper. Because sometimes newspaper get it right, there's a whole lotta wrong information about --allegedly about classified activities that's in the newspaper. We don't call them and correct them either. That's another big challenge but we just don't go anywhere near it because we don't want to help and compound the offense that was committed.

COMEY: It hadn't been written yet. I don't know. This is the peril of trying to comment on newspaper articles that report to report classified information. I can't say much about them, they're often wrong.

COMEY: Leaks have always been a problem. I read over the weekend something from George Washington and Abraham Lincoln complaining about them. But I do think in the last six weeks, couple of months, there's been at least -- apparently a lot of conversation about classified matters that's ending up in the media.

Now, a lot of it is just dead wrong, which is one of the challenges because we don't correct it, but it does strike me there's been a lot of people talking or at least reporters saying people are talking to them in ways that have struck me as unusually active.

COMEY: Any unauthorized disclosure of classified conversations or documents is potentially a violation of law and a serious, serious problem. I've spent most of my career trying to figure out unauthorized disclosures and where they came from. It's very, very hard.

Often times, it doesn't come from the people who actually know the secrets. It comes from one hop out, people who heard about it or were told about it. And that's the reason so much information that reports to be accurate classified information is actually wrong in the media. Because the people who heard about it didn't hear about it right. But, it is an enormous problem whenever you find information that is actually classified in the media.

COMEY: Yeah, it's a great question, Mr. Turner, because there's a whole lot out there that is false. And I suppose some of it could be people lying to reporters. I think that probably happens. But more often than not, it's people who -- who act like they know when they really don't know. Because they're not the people who actually know the secrets, they're one or two hops out and they're passing along (ph) things they think they know.

Now, when it's unclassified information, if a reporter misreports the contents of a bill that's being debated in Congress or a policy, we can call him and say hey, you ought to read it more carefully. You missed this or missed that. We cannot do that with classified information.

It's very, very frustrating because I have read a whole lot of stuff, especially in the last two months, this is just wrong. But I can't say which is wrong and I can't say it to those reporters.

Again, this thread was created to remind everyone here that the MSM often gets it wrong and reports falsehoods that are believed by those who refuse to second guess any sources that confirm their bias.

In my opinion, I wouldn't believe a damn thing that comes from the MSM, considering their ties to the CIA. Similarly, all other alternative forms of media and information should be questioned as it comes.

Not only is your attention span being marginalized, your lack of knowledge or exposure is the void that the MSM hopes to fill. My suggestion is to question everything and come to your own conclusions.

I have watched countless attempts at people pretending like comey said "Russia didn't interfere so trump is innocent."

When comey really said Russia didn't hack the actual machines and they did hack the emails to hurt clinton and help trump and that the Trump campain is presently under investigation..

something i find funny and very telling. comey didn't say that obama didn't tap trump, he said that i have no information. there's a big deference in the two, and comey knows that, he is a lawyer and being as such is fluent in double speak.

Of course the media lies. That's a given. Thing is, even at their lying worst they don't hold a candle to the whoppers Donald Trump tells, almost every day.

And somehow during the election he managed to piss off the democrats and Clinton campaign almost as much as the alleged Russian hackers did, over that final new investigation.

Also they caught her IT guy asking reddit how to remove a time stamp off email after the fbi ordered they not destroy any evidence. He then used bleach bit to destroy evidence knowing it was agaisnt the law! He pleaded the 5th the whole time and was given immunity by the justice department headed by lynch! When the committee asked comey he played retarded and acted like he knew about it but it didn't prove intent! Hes not a moron so that makes him a sellout! Funny thing is i also know how to conduct forensic data investigation because i have a degree in information security so i know he botched the investigation!

The system was broken generations ago by different politicians making it legal for politicians to pay for play and insider trade..

They don't have to do illegal stuff to get rich at our expense..it is perfectly legal for them to do so...

Comey needs to clean out his desk, and turn in his badge. He showed his true colors when he made the report on Clinton, but neglected to announce there had been an investigation on Trump and his "soon to be cabinet" picks and campaign manager since 2016.

And Comey is using some of his advanced intelligence training on the American electorate. Just look at his patterns the past 9 months, and the sincerity with which he delivers each and every word. Nobody in the media will publically challenge what he says. But I bet they do in private.

Yes, it should come as no surprise that the politicians have and will again use the media with unnamed sources to control the story they want in front of everyone so yes they lie and so do the politicians, so Comey is right.

Jezzz...it really skips over the heads of Democrats to realize the Clinton campaign and the DNC itself was its own worst enemy. They had a viable candidate in Bernie Sanders whom I believe would have given Trump a much closer battle. However the CLINTON campaign, not the Russians and the DNC, not Trump colluding with the Russians derailed and interfered with the election. Clinton and the DNC are the ones who influenced the election more than the Russians.

The facts are that a large majority of people outside of Los Angeles and New York City, did not like the Clinton machine, remember that she lost the first time she ran against Obama and rarely do individuals get a second chance in DC so she was privileged to get that chance. People like Trump because he is anti establishment, sorta like Bernie Sanders but polar opposites in terms of beliefs but both are outsiders, but the DNC machine ruined that chance.

Agree. I always preach, read between the lines and apply critical thinking, You learn these things naturally. Then you take course in communications and see just how complicated these things get with mass dissemination.
