Trump has opened up the bidding for "The Wall".

They have set the standards as well.

30 feet high in some areas !!

6 feet deep to stop tunneling !!

Strong enough to prevent a breakthrough in less than 1 hour !!

Looks like they're serious.

Trump Administration Releases Requirements for Border Wall, Starts Requesting Bids to Build It

The Trump administration’s proposed border wall is expected to be as tall as 30 feet and no shorter than 18 feet to deter potential illegal immigrants, Homeland Security officials said Friday.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has started the process of requesting bids from various companies that would include design proposals and prototypes of President Trump’s proposed barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border, the Washington Times reported.

The agency has released two proposals for contractors who want to submit a bid: a solid, concrete wall and a wall with “a see-through component/capability.”

“The wall design shall be physically imposing in height,” CBP officials said in contracting documents.

They're seeking designs. Ok.

Nothing confirmed yet as to whether this wall will actually be built right across the border. Still nothing about how Mexico is going to pay for this wall. It doesn't help that Senate Majority Mitch McConnell admitted Mexico won't be paying for the wall. No details about the cost to the tax payer. But yet let's get giddy about the fact they're asking for designs.

I cant see many Mexican's Steve McQueen'ing over it.

Also all them Architect's and engineers that said "we wont build your wall" will miss out on some serious coin not only in building it but it will need permanent monitoring and maintenance. It's going to be massive! Their loss.

Edit- I cant star for some reason they must of restricted my account cant do it on my phones or computer. It must be a left thing haha

Your illegal immigrant problem costs the taxpayers roughly 100 Billion US Dollars per year. The wall was estimated to a price of 12 Billion if i recall that correctly. The wall is pretty much going to pay for itself.

America put a man on the moon. A wall is a peanut compared to that. Let's show Mexico what Americans can do!

Can't be the liberals say it is NEVER going to be built.

They call Trump all sorts of names, and comment on how stupid he is. Then they underestimate him. What does this say about the average liberal?

Where are you getting this $100 billion source? You do understand illegals actually pay for taxes either directly or indirectly in this country and they don't get it back? They can't claim for benefits given they're illegal.

And how's that? Part of the border already has a wall built and the illegals keep on coming in.

The illegals don't pay income tax if they get cash, this means not SSI, medicare, city, and any other taxes that are taken with a pay stub.

Sure they pay beer and liquor, state tax on retail, gas tax (if they own a car).

Let's not act like they are legally going to H&R block and filing with the IRS, they are not.

The part with the wall being partially build was already debunked. There is only a little fence and it goes for a few miles but a very poor one i might add. Every president that tried to build the wall didn't followed through with their plans. Obama had the same idea btw and it's nothing new.

The wall is not just for the illegal immigrants but to prevent the corrupt mexican border patrol to invite all people into the US. That's the root of the problem. Mexico doesn't care about the illegals who are passing through. They just want them out of their country as fast as possible. There is the problem with coyotes and cartles who use illegals for their illegal deeds. If the wall prevents even one person for being used like an object then it was worth it. Trump said the forgotten will no longer be forgotten and he meant those people too. Now it's the legal way or the highway. How it should be. I never understood why the US didn't build the wall sooner. I'm from east germany and i lived behind a wall but i fully understand Trumps intentions.

Had you paid more attention to what I posted, you would have noted I never specifically claimed income taxes. Illegals do pay taxes in this country through goods and services. They also work as hard as the legal workers (sometimes harder) and yet they don't have access to social security and other benefits, assistance programs.

The claim they're costing the country is nonsense. This is why the other member didn't source anything.

China built a nice one that's functional too!
Isn't imitation the best form of flattery?

Even if The Wall doesn't work, it's $20 Billion, that's barely a drop in the bucket. Might as well give it a try, hell we gifted $500 million to Obama's friends at Solyndra. And what about that $800 Billion that was supposed to come with "shovel ready jobs" ? The Wall will provide far more shovel ready jobs than that trillion dollar bailout ever produced, at a fraction of the cost.

this could be a publicity stunt.
a contract like this would be sold internally and a long time ago.
we will see what this "wall" looks like after [if] a new budget is passed

You clearly have never been on the receiving end of a federal RFP contract. They're following standard protocol for solicitation of design proposals for this type of contract.

This is wonderful news! Good walls make for good neighbors.

it seems obvious to me how they're going to pay for it. By taking away Medicaid and drop 24 million Americans healthcare and raise everyone's taxes that's how they're going to pay for it.what really going to hurt is when they find out that the immigrants illegal or otherwise pay about $11 billion in taxes

Yes, by walling them in right? How can you not see that a wall does nothing for the ones already here? The last thing it does is 'pay for itself', that's just absurd.
