Maddow and Johnson are paid good money.

Maddow makes $7 million a year at MSNBC.

The "leaked" tax papers showed Trump is an honest businessman.

They show no such thing.

They show that he pays a higher tax rate than leftist icons like Bernie Sanders and Obama.

I don't condone anyone threatening this poor sap but him and Maddow should have maybe....I don't know....actually READ the tax return before they launched their ratings grab last night.
If this guy is such a investigative journalist, he should have known what he had was no bombshell against Trump.
I don't see how Maddow can show her face on TV again after that Leftist flim flam debacle.
Cut it out Maddow!!!!

Which is why I think Johnson has a good case indicating that Trump himself had it released. It actually helps him, and (was) a great deflection from his other woes, which are many. Although the frenzy will be short-lived. Like you say, it was a ratings grab, but still newsworthy.

More interesting is how it was released, why, and why now. I think the release was pro-Trump, and certainly Maddow and Johnson were aware of that.

The entire thing just seems suspicious to me.
Obviously Maddow is an intelligent person, albeit a rabid Leftist but she wouldn't get to be where she is without being somewhat intelligent.
If both of them were aware of what the tax return entailed, why would they set themselves up for the backlash they are getting today?
And it's not just Trump supporters that are slamming the report, everybody is.

That he is getting threats and that the threats are from Trump supporters. There have been a lot of false claims made lately. Remember the woman who said that a Trump supporter scratched her face? She later admitted that she did it to herself.

Because the what's, why's, and wherefore's are interesting. And like you said, ratings. I watched it, and I never watch MSNBC. And I don't see what all the backlash is about. It helped the man. I am honestly leaning towards thinking he had it released himself.

Didn't Johnson say he and his wife make 412,000 a year, and Trump and his wife make that in a day? And yet they paid the same tax rate in 2005.

Does anybody really believe that a reporter, who nobody ever heard of, "went to his mailbox" and found my tax returns? @NBCNews FAKE NEWS!

Why not? If Trump and CO are going to leak old tax documents that make him look good, and simultaneously deflect from all the troublesome news dogging the White House, they'd be smart to pick someone educated enough to have a little bit of authority on economics and taxes, and someone that they're sure will leak it the "opposition", so that Trump and CO can play the victim.

Surely even his most loyal supporters can't argue that point!

On second thought, any time somebody mentions all the lies he tells, inevitably one of them will come along and ask
"what lies has he told"?

lol.

I've actually only believed ONE thing he's said and that was about national health care. He said something to the effect of "I had NO idea Health care was so COMPLICATED".

I certainly have no problem believing that.

Prove what? That Trump is not a honest business man? Trump University? Trump Foundation? Lawsuits from contractors and employees that he refused to pay? Do you think he was acting the honest businessman when he bullied, threatened and bankrupted long time land owners in Scotland in order to put in his golf course?
