Spot on, I seem to remember a bit of controversy some time back now were we could not launch ours without the US allowing it but I may be wrong on that and Thatcher for all her ill's did say we needed an independent nuclear deterrent and in that 'Deterrent' she was and I feel still is correct.

Agreed. And Jeremy Corbyn would keep our nuclear subs but without any missiles. Unbelievable.

Get over the hype. Russia is not out to destroy you. The west has waged a propoganda war against Russia for decades simply because they where not fully integrated with the Capitalist system.

That is true BUT he would not get that past his own party and indeed he would NEVER get it past a parliamentary vote so it simply would not happen, most Labour supporters are in favor of us keeping our nuclear deterrent and that is not likely to change any time soon.

So that argument about Corbyn is being blown out of proportion by the Tory Camp whom want to scaremonger him out of power before he is even in it.

You know you do make a very good point, I would not say the west though but rather the ultra elite whom control the media and the politician's in the west, they felt threatened as well by the new elite coming out of Russia whom were posed to potentially topple there ruling position's as Russia integrated with the west so worked to put a stop to it and then there is the whole argument about US bases having popped up all around Russia AFTER the cold war had supposedly ended which give's the Russian's some authority to there argument's.

Just spent the last half hour reading about these claims. Wow. Some heavy conspiracy there.
Russians have particle beam weapons on the moon.

It's not a single warhead though. Just like almost every other nuclear missile, it's a MIRV design, capable of carrying something like 15 warheads.

What's the point of those missiles when they have subs? That's just another bs from Pravda. Funny enough pravda in Russian means truth.

No way.

They havent launched a sub we havent shadowed with one of ours since the 80s. Nothing leaves their airspace without being tracked.

How did they get all these missiles delivered to our coasts? I imagine they are just outside our national waters right? Some of those places are too deep to keep a working missile.

Then they dig in. Right. So they are self drilling missile launchers at insane depths that got there in large pieces which no one noticed. Or they got there in a million small pieces and were assembled onsite....

Not buying it.

The subs are so that the missiles survive for use if required. Ground based and air launched weapons can be disabled, or give someone plenty of time to react.

The problem with sub based missiles is that while the missile is pretty bullet proof the sub itself requires a lot of maintenence and they break. Even the US Navy only has a few at sea at any given time.

Ah that makes a lot more sense, I was having imagining's that this was a Tsar 2 type bomb mounted on a missile, still the over all effect of lot's of smaller tactical nukes would still be unmerciful.

I agree that it is highly unlikely that this would happen if () Corbyn got to be PM but the fact that he has such crackpot ideas like this is fact, not Tory scaremongering. JC scares most people every time he opens his mouth, so no need for scaremongering really.

What is to stop a country shipping nukes in containers, without the need to deliver them by missile, or mole thing?

Shipping nukes in containers is an old idea and of course a container can easily shield it's radioactive nature from even the best sensing equipment.

I believe there were cold war contingency's to deal with just such situation's but of course by the time the nuke is being checked by custom's it is already too late because it is either in port or almost in port so kiss that port goodbye.

Today we live in an ever more desperately dangerous world, we could have and should have gone in and taken the Nuclear weapon's away from India and Pakistan in the interests of world peace but of course it was the cold war so both side's were playing proxy politics and the spread of nuclear weapons to those nations was just a part of that, however the cat was the truly out of the box.

Now at least with the fall of the former soviet union and the rumored missing suitcase tactical nuclear bomb's as well as many other likely rogue devices or at least material enough to make several hundred dirty bomb's the world faces a constant threat and like the sword of Damocles it is hanging over our head's with no one knowing when the fine thread holding it will finally break but we are sure that break it shall.

Recent development in Pulse Detonation Engine, anti-matter a newly discovered physics principles, is going to shape the future of nuclear deterrence, especially with regard to the development and fielding of the successor to the Borey class submarine. The series of Borey submarines is now complete with the last few boats being built. After that a new class will be defined and built! With it, and with the latest developments on PDEs, a new series of SLBMs will come.

The future of war is all about dornes, even With russia. Russia have tested cruise missles carring swarm drones. The US are doing the same. But the US have just tested them from F-18s, F16s and land take off's, But Russia have tested them ejected from cruise missiles. These drones "5 square cm" can carry Chemical substance and small charges that can kill specific individuals. The drones are pure AI after they have been programed With a task. The only back drop so far is the 9 hour capasaty for these drones.

Russian and Chinese equipment has also had major production and reliability issues we don't see. They get more equipment because their philosophy has always been quantity over quality, and it shows in reliability and accident rates.

Hasnt there been a huge increse in aircraft accidents lately for the U.S?
