Nope, it is not about that. What Obama said had some meaning, he said, 'did not come here voluntarily'. Obviously, immigrant means came from one country to another to live. They immigrated.

Carson went on to say the slaves that involuntarily were dragged from their families and homes worked harder for the American Dream. In the beginning, most worked hard because if not, they would be whipped or killed or sold away from their family.

Later generations of slaves with a view toward freedom worked to keep their family together and get their own piece of land.

Two entirely different subjects and Carson is a moron.

But the statement that slaves are immigrants is still idiotic.

At least Obama had enough sense to dial it back a little and the difference between his statement and Carson's is pretty clear. Personally I just wouldn't have said it at all, but that's me.

Lot's of opinion, the statements are very similar. Both O and Carson brought up immigrants. And both talked about a brighter future.

FYI, I wouldn't call it outrage. They think the statement is a dumb thing to say.

I'd say the false outrage is coming from anyone lashing out at liberals for thinking the statement was dumb.

Right one said their state of mind was that of hope for happiness, and the other said their state of mind was being inspired by previous people and having faith for a better life for their family.

Any reasonable person can see thaat this is basically the same thing.

Obama is talking about slaves already here who actually had a history and even had a chance to be free.

Carson is talking about people in ships making the trip as if they actually had any idea where they were being taken.

Yet different enough and I pointed out where.

Slaves are immigrants. So are young women smuggled into the US to work as prostitutes but they are not in the same frame of mind as someone who got a visa to work or study in the US.
