(Yahoonews)-Is it a dark ritual or animal instinct?

A Boston man came across a chilling and puzzling scene that involved a group of turkeys and a dead cat in the middle of a road. Twitter user @TheReal_JDavis posted video of the birds slowly circling the feline’s corpse.

He told Boston magazine that since turkeys are naturally afraid of cats, it’s likely they were poking around to see if the one on the road was a threat, which is known as “predator inspection behavior.” Instead of running the other way, turkeys check to see how big the threat might be.

Turkeys are also known to follow their leader, so one bird in the group likely took on the task of inspecting the cat’s remains, while the others followed along – and they just happened to create a perfect circle.

Well here's a site you don't see everyday.

Is the cat really dead, or just hypnotising the birds to come closer? Never underestimate the power of cats.

Predator inspection behavior my arse!

Time to sacrifice a virgin (if one can be found off the internet) and hide in the basement for a few months...

I think I saw a murder of crows flying backwards in a circle over my house, too, but it could've been a flock of pigeons going in the normal direction... hard to tell when one is wasted.

But this... no thanks. Even worse than 30+ cats all sitting in your yard , staring at you... but again, wasted.

In the earlier thread, the turkeys were misidentified as vultures.

Don't see why they made such a big deal about how weird it is. They should have just asked one of the turkeys what was going on.

They are circling counterclockwise!

I think the turkeys know quantum mechanics and Schrodinger's Cat. If they take their eyes of it, the cat will come back to life. Kind of like those Stone Angels on Dr. Who. [end joke]

The Counterclockwise Circle Dance is very sacred to Native Americans. And since they cannot use real eagle feathers... they use turkey feathers.

How strange is that?

Ok.

I didn't know where to put this topic.
There isn't an animal forum, so I figure nature would fit.

Either way, they can do what they want.

Reminds me of an old joke:

Be thankful that the pilgrims didn't hunt cat for Thanksgiving...we'd all be eating __________ instead of turkey. If you're not sure how to fill in the blank ask Trump.

What I find weird about this video is that it says 720p quality, but appears to be 240potato.

Very Strange indeed.

Holy buckets, it's happened twice now.

The turkey march will be the last thing we see, millions of 'em. one giant circle of doom, signalling the end of times.

Thanks giving my feathery bottom...

I feel kind of sheepish even owning this post....just another example of poor judgment on my part.
